  1. Does anyone know if any ED or nearby petrol stations have the hand held jet washers - I want to power wash my bike. Thanks

The latter is an old school body building gym.

A 10 min car journey. This is what this scheme is for. To make people change behaviour - stupid behaviour like this.
  4. All depends what you mean by close. Grantchester meadows in Cambridgeshire are just a 90min drive away and you can have a lovely dip in the Cam. There are parts of the River Mole in Surrey that you can go in for a dip and a splash but not really swimming. Near the stepping stones at the base of Box Hill is quite deep but lots of dogs. Sea swimming off the Kent coast is often quite pleasant at this time of year. I swam at Deal a few years back and it was like a mill pond and pretty mild too.
  5. Hi James Why have all the benches in Dulwich Park been covered in plastic mesh? I understand we wish to discourage people from being in parks when they shouldn't be but if someone needs a rest or to sit down this doesn't seem unreasonable. Covering them all up feels very much an overreaction and unnecessary at this point. Thanks DC
  6. Any eggs? Rare as the teeth of the birds that lay them at the moment

  10. Because frankly I'm bored of hearing ill-informed opinions from know-nothings on vox-pops. If Bob doesn't know what he's on about, why the feck do we have to listen to him? Does he understand about trade deals or the four freedoms that the EU is built on? No? Then put someone on TV that does so we can all learn something and educate ourselves. Bob gets to vote. He doesn't get to be on my TV.
  11. God this sort of vox-pop shit makes me want to claw my own eyes out. The average resident of No10 anywheresville Street knows precisely bugger all about anything. They aren't economic or healthcare experts so why interview them about it? The BBC is meant to be holding politicians to account, not just repeating the tired drivel of "get it done" or "we're full". Just because Mrs Miggins thinks we should spend our nuclear deterrent budget on hedgehog sanctuaries you shouldn't give her airtime. Here's a better idea...go to a hospital and interview a doctor. Go to a school and interview a teacher. Go to a care home and interview the eastern european immigrant paid minimum wage to wipe the arse of the relative you forgot about. Or go to a university and speak to an economics professor or someone who can explain spending forecasts. You know, experts. People who might contribute something valuable rather than 15 second soundbites of trite bullshit. My nan used to live at no10 and for years voted for the politician who she thought had the nicest teeth. Make of that what you will.
  12. Would definitely suggest you consider cycling. Much cheaper - insurance is cheap, no petrol, kit is cheaper (unless you buy Rapha!) and the bike itself is cheaper. Better for you and the environment and no less safe (possibly more so). Easier to park. ED to West End is probably 35-45 mins according to exact locations and speed.
  13. Would this not be a matter for the London Wildlife Trust rather than the council?
  14. Car wouldn?t start at home this morning. Stupidly I don?t have cover - can anyone recommend a mechanic who will come out and not cost an arm and a leg?
  15. Resurrecting this for any further comment or insight. I have a 5yo very interested in learning to climb "like a ninja"!
  16. Waddler is absolutely beautiful and made of the softest alpaca wool - lovely for a winter baby. It's online www.waddler.co.uk
  17. Don't bother with the one in Dulwich Park. Massively overpriced and staffed either by lunatics or bored teenagers. Piss poor craft activities too.
  18. Except that legislation could define teaspoon (heaped or not) and force all fizzy drinks to carry that. It's not that hard. And a % isn't useful if you don't understand or know how they work. If we are discussing a demographic with low education then that's an issue. Teaspoons don't require a GCSE to work out. The tax would of course go into the general fund - it will be a goverment policy decision to allocate the necessary funding to tackling obesity.
  19. And while I find Jamie somewhat irritating from time to time, I don't believe he's doing this through ego. I saw some foodie-types online laying into him yesterday because, SHOCK, some of his cookbooks have in the past used sugar in recipes. Ergo he's not allowed to criticise sugar. Which is frankly a pathetically weak argument. It's a decent awareness raising campaign and good luck to him.
  20. Loz I couldn't disagree more. How is expressing sugar in teaspoons not informative compared to doing so in grams. Given a large % of the populations still can't use the metric system (Dad, I'm looking at you - stop using furlongs) then a visable measurement that everyone uses on a near daily basis makes much more sense. You can still have grams too if need be. Nor are taxes pointless. They discourage use and help fund the healthcare needed to treat and rapidly growing obesity crisis that is in no small way down to sugar consumption.
  21. 2 weeks full pay for me and I'm now using the shared parental leave scheme and they are paying me full pay for a further 8 weeks while MrsDC goes back to work.
  22. In what other ways are they "very decent" if you don't get more than three days paid paternity leave?
  23. Do you meet the eligibility criteria: https://www.gov.uk/paternity-pay-leave/eligibility
