I would never go back to the Camberwell health clinic, long waiting times, you get a consultation and then book in again for further appointments and another few hours wait. Mine was extremely painful and ended up having a scan in kings due to the new coil thread missing. Luckily it was still in situ but when they take it out in a few years I will probably need sedation. Gp would have been much better I would say in hindsight

Mirena IUS and Paraguard IUD (copper coil) are similar sizes. Jaydess is the smaller IUS recently available, which may be easier to fit for some women.

Many GPs won't fit a coil because it's a specialist procedure, and a "blind" procedure, so their experience and competence needs to be extra high as a gyne practitioner for coils. If your GP doesn't have a gyne background, then they're not likely to do this procedure.

I know it's not the area you're looking for, but I use the Waldron sex health clinic in New Cross, and they have been excellent. If you go for a walk-in, expect a long wait. Or, you can book an appointment. xx

You can go to the drop in at King's Sexual Health clinic (which does involve queuing in the street!), but best place I've found - by a country mile - is the Margaret Pyke centre at Kings Cross. It's bloody miles away, and makes for a sore bus ride home, but they are fab and you can make an appointment.
i had exactly this problem a couple of years ago. You can't make an appointment at Camberwell so have to queue to get an appointment and then come back. Nightmare. I don't understand how the family planning service works in Southwark.

    • Hello, I'm from Ireland and would love my children to be able to know the language - I can speak it but I'm not so good at teaching it. If there's anyone local who used to teach Irish at primary school (preferably Connemara Irish) and who'd like to tutor 3 boys aged 7-10 for an hour or two a week please do let me know. Thanks, Sarah
