Wanted: Local picture framer

You could buy a frame from Habitat and then get one of them to just do you a mount in a colour of your choice. I did that with the one on Northcross Road and saved at least ?40 on framing. Just take the print and the frame in. (The frame needs to be a good two inches larger than the print, I'd say.

I've tried several in the area and the best value and promptest service is definitely David Mitchell Framers in Lewisham- 28 Loampit Hill SE13 7SW tel 020 8469 0078 NB they are closed on Wednesdays. http://david-mitchell-picture-frames-limited.business.site/

They are very friendly and helpful and half the price of some in SE22. They frame works for all major exhibitions as well as the general public. They only take a week to frame the work and are helpful if you need advice.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I took up minitoots?s suggestion and went to David Mitchell Framers this morning, friendly service and a reasonable price, I think. I was nervous doing this, had no idea what I wanted really or how much it would cost, but so far so good. I collect it next week.

I have just got frames back from David Mitchell based on the recommendation here. Pleased with the result, and found them really helpful in helping me pick the right frame and mount.

They told me the turnaround time would be two weeks because they're really busy. It was actually a bit quicker than that in the end. The shop was indeed really busy with customers when I went to collect in the late afternoon.

    • If you are that bothered, why don't you ask the people at the mosque what the situation is, and let us all know? 🤣 I live round the corner and I hadn't even noticed an awning, let alone one "half hanging off". If you think it's a safety hazard, that's a different issue, and one they may not be aware of, in which case you should definitely let them know.
    • I guess, in a few weeks we will see if he is still a councillor or goes back to teaching 🤔
    • What happened with the Heygate was absolutely scandalous. The lack of accountability is shocking.
    • Because the previous Libdem/Tory coalition council did so much better? ....Oh wait. Selling off the Heygate at a bargain price and reducing the number of council homes it replaced? Being in opposition is so much easier isn't it James.  The point on allowances etc is a valid one, and that is about finding the right balance between the responsibility of those cabinet roles and the role of service that should underpin all political aspirations in an ideal world. Holding down a full time job, while having to attend meetings and then deal with case work on top, is a huge ask imo. People in key roles need to have the time needed to do those roles effectively, so some renumeration makes sense. It's just a question of where the balance should be. McAsh has walked away from that, so his convictions are doing more talking than careerism arguably.  Worth pointing out that most MPs started out as party/ political activists/ campaigners on a local level. Different parties have different processes for selecting candidates, but everyone starts out at a low level.
