There's a series on YouTube called Spying on the Scammers, which you can find on Jim Browning's channel there. It includes a fascinating scene captured from CCTV inside the office of the CEO of a scam centre where he and his partners discuss which scams to implement next. Other than the criminality, it's just like any other company sales meeting. Thank you for alerting us to this latest tactic. The scammers get more and more convincing every year.

I see no restriction in the current regs on how far you can travel. You can leave your house for any reasonable excuse, and outdoor recreation is explicitly listed as a reasonable excuse. Plod can pull you over whenever they want to, under the Road Traffic Act. They can and do ask you all sorts of things, The opening line is usually ?Do you know why I?ve pulled you over??, but maybe they might ask what you?re up to. There?s no need to be difficult but at the same time there?s usually no legal need to answer questions other than providing your driving licence and other vehicle related stuff. There are plenty of people driving and behaving like idiots, so they have enough people to pull over without needing to bother with people out for a nice quiet drive in the countryside (which is perfectly law abiding behaviour, unless you pick up a passenger and fall foul of the illegal gatherings restrictions).

I put it in a paper bag or cardboard box. It?s perfectly recyclable, as long as it?s just paper (not shredded photographs etc).

That?s a pain. I end up cleaning tags off my house a few times a year. Some are easier than others. Based on where I saw him pause, I think last night?s tagger was spraying ?PATS?:

You usually only see graffiti taggers by their spray-painted autographs, but I saw an actual person wandering up the road doing his tags last night. I always expected it to be pairs of excited teenagers in hoodies. The chap I watched last night was a nicely dressed twenty-something in a button-down shirt with a preppy leather-strapped backpack. When he got to outside my house he looked around furtively (although not upwards to where I was) and started shaking his can: my wall is like catnip for taggers. When I called down and politely asked him not to do it, he stopped and ambled off. The whole experience was all terribly middle class. I put my shoes on and discreetly followed to make sure he wasn?t going to double back. Last seen strolling onto Grove Park, and I can?t help wondering if he might live in one of those well-to-do houses there. The way he just accepted my polite request seemed quite meek. I only cleaned the last tags off last week, which also involved stripping and repainting some cladding, so I?m quite glad he left it this time!

Sorry I don?t have a local recommendation, but maybe can give a little insight. I had one done with an audiologist at a clinic near Harley Street, and another at the London Independent Hospital. Totally different experiences. At the hospital, there was a proper soundproof booth, and gave a much more trustworthy result than the private clinic. At the private clinic, there was no booth: the audiologist had to ask the roadworks outside to be paused, and actually he gave a totally incorrect diagnosis and was clearly very motivated by trying to sell hearing aids. I?m sure that?s not a reflection of all private clinics, but it?s a salutary lesson in checking the Google reviews and finding an established place! You can get a referral from your GP, but unless your hearing loss is an emergency (i.e. very sudden) then they may not be very speedy. However, if you will need hearing aids then the only way to get the NHS ones is by NHS assessment, so that may prove to be more useful in the long run. Best of luck!

Ray Murray has just finished painting in my house. He takes a lot of pride in his work, and is very good at it. I will definitely be asking him back when I?m ready to do the next rooms on my list! Also, good communication right from arranging to quote, through to scheduling dates and keeping in touch during the job. One of the things I like is that Ray only quotes for work that he will do himself. (I had invited a quote from another company recommended on this site, but they couldn?t tell me who would actually do the work. I made the right decision taking up Ray?s quote instead.) Ray mentioned to me that his next job has just been delayed. That could be good news for you if you?re looking for a reliable decorator who is actually available to work soon. Can anyone recommend someone good with mastic? I need silicone sealing all round my kitchen. The kitchen fitter didn?t do a great job of that part, and I doubt I could do a better one. Looking for someone who has the knack.

It?s like you?re describing my late cat. Also a British short hair, taken on when previous owners divorced. She was evil 70% of the time at first, but slowly worked herself up to becoming a lapcat. I?ll be honest, it took her a few years with me to fully cut out the random furious ambushes. I assume that mine and maybe yours were dealing with something like PTSD. Biologically, a general excess of nor-adrenaline in the system, making them ready to go into fight mode. I dealt with mine by picking the little spitting fury up and shutting her out in the garden for a spell each time. Not 100% effective when she went for guerilla tactics (slash and dash, to a hissing retreat under a bed), and all very unpleasant until she calmed down. Still, she did calm down eventually and become completely and utterly lovely. There?s hope for them all, if they are given the opportunity to settle. Best of luck.

There have always been some people who need a bit of correction on dealing with their toddlers? toilet. Over here in Peckham, I?ve seen a lady take her little boy into the phone booth near KFC for a wee. You wonder what?s wrong with KFC?s loos, and just what?s going through her mind generally. Decades ago I was at a school where there were sections of felled tree left round the playing field as general obstacles / something to sit on. Weirdly, it wasn?t at all unknown to look out and see a parent holding their infant over one of them for a pee. It must have just not occurred to them that these were objects other kids would play on, or that it was generally disgusting. The same parents always looked surprised when the headmistress came out to greet them - always with a bucket and bleach and gloves, and by the look of it a stern demand to get scrubbing!

I think you?re only supposed to ban things that are fun, bad for you, and that people can either get offended by or judgemental about. Smelly cheese. Can?t think why it?s not even on the radar yet. It?s delicious, has unhealthy fat levels, and people can choose from being offended by the smell or the cattle-bothering involved. It?s perfect for banning. I?d say kids in pubs would be on the ban list too, but that?s pretty much a given and we?ve done it to death by now. Strong beer in pubs though? Could ban that and make them serve mild. Can you even order a pint of mild anywhere now?
