Trying out views you may not hold? Useful to know.

This was a technique taught to Alexander the Great by Aristotle (his one time tutor). It is a typical technique of the Athenian schools and hones debating skills - it is also the skill deployed by barristers in the UK - who can argue a client's innocence even if they believe (but crucially not know) the contrary. I'm not sure a forum is the best place to exercise such a skill, but it's certainly a useful one to have (if you can argue the other side you may also understand the other side better).

I think you're meant to take an interest into what is going on in a protective sense but not make a big show out of that interest in front of others.

You can pop in with other excuses to check someones all right. Older people are sensitive about there independence sometimes.

Like that post of yours which was recently deleted by admin, you mean? But not before several people had read it and one suggested you might like to reconsider it in the cold light of day.

Some people are indeed incapable at times of civil conversation .....

Those who saw the posts before they were deleted can make up their own mind.

Got a message back within a day to say medication ordered from chemist.

    • Oh give it a break.  We have an MP who makes racist comments, yet our media (and what seems like this Forum) that generally hate Labour (and loved Johnson) are just out looking for the dirt. It's a move on, nothing to see here.  Particularly if she used a letting agency.
