  1. This Tweet from the dead man's niece gives a fuller picture. Suggests the Police and Council encouraged some pubs to close.
  2. It's pretty busy at 7:30. Lots of Dog Walkers and runners. And then school kids and commuters from just before eight.
  3. Lots of dogs locally have been ill like this, my own among them. Puking a bit, and then off food and lethargic. It's not bad though. Give it four days, and the dog will be back to normal.
  4. There's a lot of conflation in the campaign with infilling on estates (which it seems to me is problematic unless residents are on board and compensated) and other developments. So I absolutely get why eg Brenchley residents were up in arms. But then the some of the same campaigners (eg XR Southwark) also seem to be campaigning against building anywhere else, including on what seems to me to be a brown field site near Burgess Park. There are other areas such as "Peckham Green" where the choice is between keeping a seldom used grassed over area which once contained lots of housing, and building around 100 council homes. There is potential there for a new small park, which people would no doubt use. But then in the middle of a severe housing crisis the goal of around 100 new council homes is perhaps more needed. Lots of bad faith on all sides. And the Leo Pollak incident undermined trust in Southwark horribly.
  5. Heard it second hand through the street WhatsApp. Seemed entirely legit. And I believe police informed. But know no more than that.
  6. FHGP is pretty poor. It strikes me they have way more people on their books than they offer a decent service to. The nurses are excellent in my experience though. But their admin is a disaster zone. Same with most GPs. This bit of the NHS needs dismantling top to bottom and reforming.
  7. Someone was found hanging in the woods. Still alive I understand but in a bad way.
  8. I'm early fifties, but on the flu jab list (mildly asthmatic). I'd read that wouldn't get you in group 6. But I've just been invited for a jab at the TJC via my GP. So am guessing they are using the list in Southwark.
  9. A ban on dogs off leads would be cruel and unnecessary.
  10. Dogs are not only allowed off the lead on the perimeter path. That's a misreading of the signs.
  11. Just been through the Old Cemetery and it does indeed have a page of laminated A3 paper tied to each gate requiring dogs to be leashed in all areas. So I was wrong. It's true too that Southwark encourage you to avoid the wooded areas. For the life of me I cannot figure out why the latter should be so. The wooded area in the cemetery has long since ceased to be used for burials. And is the least busy bit of the Old Cemetery. But there you go.

I am pretty sure you can both enter the wooded area and release your dog in there as is normally the case. I'll check for sure next time I'm in there
  13. You can let your dog off in parts of Camberwell Old Cemetery. Most of the wooded area and the open bit on the woody's northern edge that abuts the back of the houses on Ryedale. There are signs at the main entrances that show where you can let your dog off and where it must be kept on the lead.
  14. Tony at TDR did a great job checking out and repairing my guttering. Quick, no nonsense and reasonable rates. Does a host of other building and handyman repairs too, so I'll certainly use him again.
  15. I agree with that. I'm pleased the stadium has been approved. But equally I use Greendale and know it is of huge value to the community. I think in ten years time the stadium will come to be seen as enhancing Greendale. But a lot of hard work and bridge building will be needed if that is to come to pass.
  16. Well these arguments have been made to death. Our elected representatives will make a decision on Monday based on all the evidence, assessing what's in the public interest. Let's see where they get.
  17. The club nearly collapsed when it was forced out of East Dulwich. The club is part of our community and has no future outside of it.
  18. I'm all for it, as are most people who responded to the consultation. The club's future will be secured with this new development. Without it, very uncertain indeed. The majority of Greendale will remain unaffected, The new stadium will sit largely on the derelict astroturf, the site of Dulwich Hamlet's old ground before the Champion Hill stadium was built.
  19. It doesn?t say that. It says that areas within parks that can be locked will be locked. Playgrounds, skate parks etc. Looks like parks will remain open for the moment.
  20. And indeed here https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/dulwichhamlet/news/update-050320-statement-from-the-club-and-dhst-on-our-champion-hill-planning-application-2518507.html
  21. The plans for the stadium have been changed drastically to accomodate MOL restrictions. It's for the planners to decide whether this is sufficient.
