Can anyone recommend a room for hire locally for a 10 year old's birthday party with around 12 kids and a few adults? Not expensive and we want to bring our own food. Don't want to be rattling around a big hall really. Thanks!

Edited to add that we have the entertainment organised, just need a venue to host.

I booked the Francis Peak recently - its ?56 an hour. You need to factor in the setting up and cleaning time so it gets a bit pricey..

If you were flexible about bringing your own food - the lordship pub are great and do children's party food at ?5 a head

Thanks all - particularly like the Nunhead centre - that looks great but unfortunately they are booked. We have altered our plans a bit so we don't need a room now. Much appreciate everyone's input though which will no doubt be useful in the party years to come :)

    • As a cafe, yes. And they kept all the chandeliers they hadn't sold as an antique shop still hanging up. They had a real mouse problem, quite well covered up, however.
    • Ah yes, that's right. Didn't Chandelier sell a huge range of different kinds of tea?  That militaria shop was bonkers.
    • Spinach took over from Chandelier, which was then a cafe but had been an antique shop of the same name. Some shops up from Target Arms the militaria shop.
    • My friend and I once did a cocktail crawl down Lordship Lane.  I think we started at Black Cherry (now Franco Manca). It got off to a good start when I knocked mine over and had to buy another one. Liquorish was in there somewhere. The crawl ended with me carrying a chair and her a set of glasses, both bought from an antique shop at some point on the crawl, can't remember where and long gone. Was it where Spinach is now? Somewhere round there. The antique shop, not Spinach!
