Because I've never been? Because I haven't been selling and buying at car boot sales for the last 25 years. You know, the kind that involve a car and a boot and sales? Because I'm a crazy lady who thinks events should be advertised as they will actually be?

Good luck with your flea market. Luckily for you there are enough folk around here willing to fork out a small fortune for both other people's second hand junk or to pay a small fortune to pay for the privilege of hauling their kit down a road to sell it off a blanket on the floor.

Also good luck to your professional traders who you clearly have lined up.

Think the seasoned car booter comment was for me Cedges

And I have to confess I am, even been to them in Copenhagen, Singapore and Spain. Some woth cars, some without but never with anyone selling directly from a car boot (I?ve been going and selling for years) th items are always taken out of the boot (usually with help from antique dealers after the good stuff) and placed on pasting table/clothes rail or blanket.

Good way to get a bargain, make a bit of cash and do some recycling

See all bargain hunters and sellers on 11 March

Didn't think the ?5/?6 boot fairs could be anywhere close enough to get to. I have being doing boot fairs in London and Kent for years and have never paid less than ?10. There's nearly always a mixture of second hand and vintage.

More traders booked in

But wow 😯

Never thought my posting would cause such a stir.

It?s a car boot let?s hope it?s a good one

Most pitches are sold now so my efforts will be on getting another 2000

Flyers out there to bring in footfall.

No digs intended

Seasoned or not

Car booting makes for great fun.

I?m addicted.

Like every event it?s perseverance

to build on making it a success.

Like all car boots/fares etc it will have good months and ROTTEN

ones due to weather, sporting events and seasons.

Yes it?s mother?s day-so a stroll after lunch

to purchase some flowers (yes we have flowers)

Or some retro sweet treats might be a nice end to the weekend.

Thanks all.

Oh absolutely do go ahead and do things - no problem - just make sure your descriptions are accurate thats all. Its very simple. Everyone would be up in arms if a Ham and Cheese sandwich was advertised and contained no ham. Or a muffin was advertised as vegan but contained milk. I am merely up in arms at a car boot sale that clearly is a flea market/table top with with a smattering of car boot.

CEDGES I wasn't going to comment but I really do find your constant replies quiet tiresome.

I am in NO way false advertising my event.

It is a CAR BOOT sale not a flea market please stop putting out bad comments.

I am dealing directly with Goodrich school and after putting forward my proposal the car boot sale will go ahead.

If you really have nothing positive to say or nothing better to do please don't RAIN on other people parade.

If you want to judge then come along on the day and see for yourself.

I am working hard to promote the event for both SELLERS and the Public.

It's disappointing when a few try and spoil for the majority.

I am quite tired with your utter failure to consider the concept of false advertising.

What is is exactly that I am trying to ruin? Am i saying your event shouldn't go ahead? No. Am I saying no one should go? No. And I saying that you are falsely promoting one thing whilst attempting to operate something else? Yes.

No, I won't be coming along. I would have had I just seen a promotion for a car boot sale and not asked more questions. Which is very much my point. Having a wander and having a look to see if I can find any car boot bargains is exactly what I wanted to do. Coming along to have a gander at professional traders and other peoples second hand, likely non-vintage tat that they are going to have to massively overprice to have any chance of even making a couple of quid profit, I am not interested in. And so I am delighted to have established that you are operating a flea market/table top sale of which I have not interest in attending.

If you think I'm annoyed now, imagine how furious I'd be had I spent my precious time visiting your car boot sale only to discover the above after I'd arrived.

Actually I think I've been very kind by pointing out your error and misinformation. It would be a horrible shame if instead of taking on board such advice, someone else was misinformed and subsequently informed trading standards about your false advertising.

Just caveat what you're calling it and stop being stupidly stubborn.

    • I think you need to get a grip If it's who I am thinking of, she's a young black girl in her twenties, has braids with bright colours through them and - I suspect - works with her father. It's always the same man behind the wheel and he's older than her, always in the same van, so I'm assuming it's a father-daughter combo which, if it is, I think is rather sweet.  They hustle hard in a job that is poorly paid, has little prospects, is relentless and thankless. The fact that they have stuck it out since the pandemic says a lot about them.  I think she's a lovely girl, who's perhaps a little shy - but she'll smile or chat back if you make the effort with her. And I admire her for sticking with that job for so long. Perhaps she's just one of these people who's naturally a bit clumsy or bashes things, the same way some people are heavy on their feet when they walk. But I wouldn't dream of jeopardising her job because she closes the slams the gate and doesn't 'kiss' the ring doorbell with her fingers.  Perhaps she's being passive aggressive because you are. And perhaps she also wishes she got to spend her time worrying about potential damage to her letterbox or her gate.  As for your gate / letterbox - you're talking about hypotheticals. Has there been any damage? No. Then go and live your life and worry about it when it happens.  (apols we have the wrong person, but some of my points still stand).
    • Greg did an amazing job! He built a cabinet in my living room and added shelving. A lovely guy and perfectionist who goes the extra mile. He really understands what you want and comes up with various options to meet your price range. Would highly recommend!
    • I love the fact that virtually everyone held their hands out when furlough payments were made yet can't equate massive debt with massive cash payments to keep the economy ticking over.
    • The problem with delivery people nowadays is that they are on such a restrictive schedule that they literally have to just try to deliver and run, otherwise they are penalised. I understand the frustration though.   And good luck making any kind of complaint to Evri. I once sold a laptop on ebay, took it to the Evri pick-up, where it was processed and it then went 'missing' between their pick-up place and the hub. Went through a long, long process where they offered me a desultory amount in compensation and I had to take them to small claims court before they came up with a fair offer the day before we were due to be in court. Long story short, Evri are shite.   Go to look at this forum for the number of people who have issues: https://nationalconsumerservice.co.uk/forum/183-postal-and-delivery-services/
