david_carnell
SJ, myself and BellendenBelle will be checking out the delights of the Crooked Well in Camberwell today. We can report back but by then it will be too late. The usual suspects all do something decent but tbh, I'm not sure you can ever beat a home-made version. Doesn't have to sit around drying out and fresh spuds make all the difference. katie1997
Can anyone apart from strafer recommend anywhere Nette? If so, I was at the Old Nuns Head for Sunday Roast the other week, it was lovely. You can get really decent child-sized portions there (be warned - these are big enough for adults too!) Service was great as well. They also do excellent coffee and home-made cakes.Hope you find somewhere to suit. Otta
I agree with DC in that you can't beat home made. Damned shame the Woodman in Sydenham closed, as they did a fantastic roast for about 8 quid.Woodhouse is okay, but I think it's too expensive for what it is. Go and try it. I will pay your bill (minus drinks) if you didn't enjoy your meal :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18331-sunday-roast/#findComment-453285 Share on other sites

????
the best roast ever was the Secret Garden at Franklins when it was a BYO in the antique/junk shop of the same name on Camberwell Road FACT....ones now non-descript new build flats, the other an extremley expensive and far less atmospheric hybrid of its former glory Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18331-sunday-roast/#findComment-453296 Share on other sites

david_carnell
Well I can report the Crooked Well on Camberwell Grove was bloody superb.A rabbit and bacon pie for two, one roast beef, one gazpacho soup, one chocolate torte and lots of booze equalled the best roast I've had in a long time. Service couldn't have been better either.A difficult site that hasn't done great in the past so go now and support an excellent local business.
