Hi

My table lamp has stopped working, I assumed it was the bulb so I replaced it but no it didn't work, so I changed the fuse and it still doesn't work...any idea what it could be please?

This is the lamp in question

Thanks in advance.

Check the wiring in the plug is still secure.

If it still doesn't work then (after unplugging) remove the bulb. Look into the bulb socket. You will see a metal connector which makes contact with the bottom of the bulb. Use a small screwdriver and gently prise this up a bit so that it is sure to make contact with the bottom of the bulb.

I have used this fix on a couple of lamps before which have mysteriously stopped working and it worked.

Thanks for the advice Trizza, I just tried this but alas it didn't work.

In the light of no-news, it's time for some-news

NETTE(!)

There is very little that can go wrong with a lamp.

Does the lamp plug direct into the mains. ?

Or ...Is it a low voltage bulb IE does the lamp have a power supply.?

Does the lamp have a switch in the base of the bulb holder.?

Does it have an inline switch in the cord.?

If the lamp has a wiring fault then the fuse may blow everytime you replace it and plug in the lamp.

Yay you will all be pleased to know THE lamp is now working. Here's the boring bit...we discovered once the cover was taken off the transformer that a small fuse was enclosed in the dimmer switch, so I replaced that and hey presto...bobs your dads brother and I have light!

Thank you all so much for your comments, they have given me hope during my dark nights :)

    • Why would mice move? It’s not so much they move as multiply and spread    copy and paste rather than cut and paste  mice can and should be dealt with.  But not easily or with guarantees  i would say most people in se22 reading this have mice. Whether they know it or not

    • If a food outlet has a mouse problem then it's likely to stay there until the outlet runs out of food, unless it's adjacent to other food outlets. Why would the mice move? And mice can be dealt with. If you are prepared to pay for it. Which, with some proprieters, is a very big if. I have no evidence that the problem has reoccured in its new inception, although obviously good owners keep the focus on good hygiene. You win the battle but the war continues.
