New Baby & Travelling

So my baby girl is now 1 month old, and I keep on falling more and more in love with her! As gorgeous as she is, I cant help but wonder how its going to be when we go on holiday in 5 months time :S any more advice/reassurance anyone?

I agree, took my little girl to Florida at 6 month with 3 other older kids and she was by far the easiest and most adaptable in all aspects. She was breastfed so I just delayed weaning until we got back.

It's only as complicated as you want to make it..

We flew to Sicily with daughter aged 6 months. She was breastfed so no extra luggage/gadgets needed, and breastfeeding when taking off and landing meant that she had a comfortable flight.

While we were there, local people went out of their way to help and be friendly - a baby was the perfect ice-breaker.

Thank you all for your advice! Really looking forward to it now :) she is such a sleepy bunny, and so will hopefully sleep for most of the flight.

She'll be a lot less sleepy by then, mind - but 6 months is a wonderfully charming age.

Agree that you will have a great time. We are enjoying our first holiday at the moment with our 8 mo. We borrowed a maclaren for the trip, but it has been a nightmare keeping her shaded (parasol is useless). Wish we had brought our bee and bought that new silver shade that blocks out uv rays. Also, and you may know this already but I didn't, if you are flying with BA, you can choose your seats straight after booking your tickets thereby increasing your chance of getting a cot seat.

Uptime cannot believe you did not consult with me on the buggy issue!! I am always surprised that people are so keen on maclarens as holiday buggys for babies (rather than toddlers) as the sun shade is rubbish. We took our then 8m old to Australia for a month with the baby jogger city mini - best travel buggy ever!

Really helpful buggy advice as hubby and I were just looking into buying a Maclaren! Will definitely go look at the Baby Jogger City Mini now :)
