Hi everyone. We're very excited to announce that Little Village Southwark's crowdfunder is now LIVE! Even more amazing is that in only a few days, we hit our first target and we're now working towards our stretch target. We've assembled a brilliant array of prizes, gifted by local businesses showing their support for Little Village as we get off the ground in SE15. Please follow the link and pledge whatever you can to help us launch.

There's no question that Little Village could play a vital role in Southwark, where 8,000 children under the age of 5 live in poverty - that's 1 in 3 kids. We might be not able to change everything, but our service could provide a real lifeline to families who are raising children in very challenging circumstances.

Please make a pledge and show your solidarity with other parents in the Little Village community - let's do this!👍💜

This is a crowdfunding page with lots of heart warming pictures and anecdotes.

I can't find any link to Little Village Southwark or to any Little Village community anywhere else on the web.

Wikipaedia identifies Little Village as a rock band.

Before you ask people for money I think you should provide some ID for your cause and some sort of track record.

This seems to describe what they do:-

Little Village provides good quality baby clothes and equipment, donated by local families, to local families who need this kit. We promote sustainable living, and make it easy for local families to help one another in a respectful, non-judgemental, non-patronising way. We came together as a group of local parents, and we now run it as an entirely voluntary enterprise.

They seem SW17 / Camden (?) based. The Southwark bit may be an offshoot I suppose.

They work out of churches (or seem to).

Hi. Little Village is a registered charity - number 1169735. There is plenty of information on what Little Village does on our website, which is https://littlevillagehq.org/. Little Village has sites in Wandsworth and Camden, and we're launching a third site in Southwark. All 3 sites are part of the Little Village network.

Little Village Wandsworth holds drop in sessions in a church hall, but we're not based out of churches and we're not affiliated with any religious group. Little Village Southwark will be based at the Ivy House in SE15 (of which I am one of the founders) and we have also secured extra storage behind the Ivy House.

We want to make it as easy as possible for local families to support each other in a social and sustainable way. Little Village is a wonderful charity and will make a great contribution to our community. We'll be working with a network of referral partners (midwives, health visitors, social services, Southwark Foodbank) to ensure we reach the families who need us most.

Our crowdfunder page has plenty of information on who we are and what we're doing, in addition to the photographs, including why we have decided to set up in Southwark, so we aren't simply asking people for money. This is a crowdfunder for a great local cause, like many others.

If you don't want to pledge then that is fine, but we are totally legitimate and if you have any concerns then just message me and I would be happy to discuss our work further. We have received lots of support locally and already reached our initial crowdfunding target.

    • I was sitting on the park bench yesterday opposite north Dulwich station and found an Apple Watch hanging off the corner. I have brought it home and charged it hoping that someone might use ‘find my’ to locate it. Equally happy to be contacted this way to return it to the rightful lender / they just need to say what colour/kind of strap it has. If you can think of a better way to return it / find its owner then please advise. And/or feel free to share on other local fora.
    • How many are there in your racist category?
    • Precisely DR it’s entirely understandable to conclude one is so disillusioned by Labour for Tories, it must be time for someone else  That  is an entirely reasonable position But if the next step is to then transfer your vote to a party full of charlatans, snake oil salespeople and racists? Then  you stop being reasonable and start being thick and/or racist i understood why Tories took power in 2010. I feared it was an error but I wasn’t castigating people who voted for them tories (then, not now) and Labour are hamstrung not by civil service or EU but by a weird media and a weird voting system in an age of social media.  The answers don’t seem to be coming from them yet but voting reform will only damage the country internationally and internally  the Tories may yet regain power but are currently led by a madwoman, with a madman positioning himself to take over. Will take years for them to sort themselves out labour are making errors all over the shop but are at least in the ballpark of sane governanc.  In no way should this give them a free pass but in 2025 there genuinely isn’t anyone better  (and current polling for reform is meaningless - in any general election be it 4 years or 4 months their lack of accountability and standards will become all too clear)
    • > Or else it's a relatively thin trunk? Or a rather thick old trunk, covered in leaf growth?  Look at the damage caused to the end and right hand railings.  NewWave, any chance  of loading your neighbour's photo here?   Or anyone else with some good focused photos, from various viewpoints if possible?
