Good afternoon

Veggie option will be avaliable from next week keep a look out for updates

  • 2 months later...

If you have not already done so I seriously recommend you try the wonderful Pyro Sunday Roast Experience.

Dennis the ?landlord? is serves up a mouth-watering Sunday Roast, and has all the ingredients for the PERFECT Pub.

More recently I have been trying a mixed roast, you often will get a combo of chicken, gammon, beef and/or lamb with all the usual trimmings, and if you have room for more, sticky toffee pudding has now been added ? all for just ?13.

Served by the lovely Poppy, the food is so delicious if there was a pattern on the plate it would be gone ? I always finish my dinner.

Vegan Option Now Added.

You won?t leave hungry.

Roast three course specials to look out for: Mother?s Day and Easter.

MONDAY?S: 1-5pm Maggie?s ?7 Specials a choice of two mouth watering dishes, Bacon and Cabbage with a weekly variation on the second option, Shepherd?s Pie, Irish Stew, Sausage Casserole and more.

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
