We are in a similar position with Sydenham girls, i would say no. 32 on the waiting list for Kingsdale is pretty good, hilariously we're at 330(band 1) so scratched that off the list.....

Hi Rachelle, the last distance to Sydenham was 1.75km or just over 1 mile. Is the distance you are giving in miles? You are then about 2.09km away. That would fit with 50+ on the waiting list as the further out you go, the larger the area of eg a 0.1km increase in distance.

In terms of Kingsdale, as it has such a large intake, I wouldn't give up on getting a place. Be aware, however, that if a place does come up, it could be late in the day eg just before school starts in September.Places come up then due to people moving over summer and also if a place becomes available, it could be turned down by several people as they stick to the offered school as their child has attended induction days, has a uniform etc.

Hi Rachelle, we are in a similar distance, starting off at 44 on the waiting list for Kingsdale in March '18 and now at 25 ( no scholarship) (I emailed the school for an update mid April). Two people on this forum year advised me last year they got in despite one being in the 60s last year- a place came up the week before school started. The other was around 100 and their place came up in the first week of school. Every year is different though. I've also heard in mid August Kingsdale contact the waiting list people to check who wants to remain on the waiting list so there is movement then. We are going to sit it out even if it means moving mid term as my daughter is not keen on her 5th school preference which she has been offered. With the info about last year, we think our daughter will get in eventually.

Hi Sunbob, all the Southwark schools are free schools/academies/faith so there is no published list of last distance place offered. You'll need to contact the schools directly. For Lewisham schools, there is information on the Lewisham website for LA run schools and others that have volunteered that information.

Ask to stay on the waiting list for your top 3 choices. I know sooooo many kids who got surprise news of acceptance 1-2 months before the school started.

Newstead Wood (Grammar School) had 3 places open one week before the new school term!

Best of luck.

    • Thank you for the feedback! Helps to see we're not alone. The only good experience we had was Modern House. Anyone tried Strike/Purple Bricks/Yopa? How did it go? Anything to be mindful of?
    • Best experience we had was with Modern House. The rest of the agents around the area are appalling.... They just want their commission and not interested in getting a good deal. You'd be lucky if they pick up the phone...
    • I’d like to echo the positive comments about Trelco. I discovered that the stopcock on the rising main was leaking and was damaging the flooring in the utility room. Not having seen this thread, or any reviews for that matter,  I picked Trelco  as it was the nearest to me. It was a gamble but goodness it paid off. James was responsive and clear in what he offered. His colleague Andy replaced the offending stopcock and put in a lever valve to allow me to shut off the water easily when I go away. He did a great job, neat and tidy, he was cheerful, friendly and professional. All this within a day of contacting them. Although not an emergency it needed resolution quickly. The price charged was very reasonable indeed, especially considering the quality of the service. I am so pleased to have found such an excellent plumber.
