Laddy Muck
OK EDFers...this may seem really mundane...but...what do people think about putting a mirror on a KITCHEN wall? I.e. is that a bit weird or... I am being serious and would really appreciate advice/comments/feedback etc. Thanking you in advance. SpringTime
What kind of mirror is it?If it's one of those tiny ones that's good for doing your lippy then it's a no.But if you can walk through it into a Narnia-like dimension then I'd say yes. Sue
I enquired about having a mirror as a cooker splashback (to reflect light around, not to gaze in :)) )I was told it would be dangerous (maybe because of the heat, can't remember now).If you want a mirror in your kitchen, go for it, I say! Can't see it's any different to having a mirror anywhere else. It makes the room look bigger and lighter. womanofdulwich
Someone recommended to me to have antique mirror splash backs. Quite a lot of those kitchen mags have them.. uncleglen
We had a mirror above the kitchen sink when I was young- my dad used to shave in it every morning- you can't beat boiling water from the kettle! Laddy Muck
WOW EDFers...I am touched that so many of you have responded! Thank you so much. You have made me think...the exact position of this potential mirror would actually be in the dining section of the kitchen (so not near the hob, Sue). Dulwich Fox, it never occurred to me to google "mirrors in kitchen". Spring Time, I am thinking of quite a large mirror. Does having this additional information make a difference to your opinions/advice etc.? It's a small kitchen/dining area (one of those new-builds of around 22 years' ago). Once again, thank you all very much...and keep those comments coming please...I promise to take every one into account. Laddy Muck
No - I'm talking about a "normal/standard" mirror which you might consider placing anywhere else in the house. Sorry for not making this clear at the beginning...crikey, I never knew about all these different types of mirrors/glass until I started this thread. :-$ Perhaps I need to "google" more... chuff
We've got a wall sized mirror in our dining room that is open to the kitchen, it adds lots of different angles and quite often people have gone to walk through it. I love it. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/184939-advicecomments-wanted-re-mirror-in-kitchen/#findComment-1227259 Share on other sites

Maybe they just told me that because they didn't sell them!!I'm considering now having plain glass which I can put different things behind (eg pictures, collages etc) and change them from time to time but now I'm a bit worried that paper behind glass could be a fire risk. What do you reckon? Laddy Muck
Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment/give advice. A mirror in the kitchen no long feels "weird" and I have made a decision...I am going to get one!Sue, don't worry about "deviating", I have learnt so much about mirrors, glass, splashbacks etc...
