social cycle ride 9.30am Saturday March 17th

Recommended Posts

Early start and later finish. All welcome. All free.

This is one of the Plus + rides which starts at 9.30am in Burgess Park and finishes at 1pm in the same place. Being nearly twice as long as usual it gets a lot further. To Bishops Park, Fulham in fact. I read that as Bishops Park Durham first time but it's not as far as that.

The ride starts at Park Life Cafe, Chumleigh Gardens, off Albany Rd, SE5 0RJ. The organisers like cafes and try to include one or two. The outward route from Burgess Park goes via Battersea Park, Albert Bridge and Chelsea Harbour. There's a coffee stop in Bishops Park (I told you).

Then back via Putney Bridge, Wandsworth Park and Thames Path. This is a flat route on the Thames basin -- about 18 miles. Jane leading. The route is at https://gb.mapometer.com/cycling/route_4698722.html

These rides are organised on behalf of Southwark Cyclists who are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign. You don't have to be a member of anything. You don't have to pay. There are no ID or address checks. Everyone welcome - whatever level of cyclist and whatever kind of bike. We are here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk

    • Any ideas, the more novel the better, I've found loads, all still valid but I'll keep one just in case. I could use them as wallpaper, like they do with maps in cool houses. Send them to America where they still use them. Confuse a young person by asking them what they are for, or keeping them to placate a mugger, here you are mate have all of them. I've got a good idea that is not wasteful, but give me your real and/or odd suggestions.  No, not toilet paper.
