When to remove the baby set on the Tripp Trapp?

Recommended Posts

My daughter is 18 months and I am beginning to find it a bit awkward getting her in and out her high chair with the baby set attachment.

I've had to dispense with the cushions as with those in place it's impossible to get her out!

What age have others taken the baby set off? I do have a harness however feel reluctant to remove the baby set at this stage, although can't see it being possible to keep it in place too much longer!

I took mine off as soon as the kids were able to climb up and down by themselves - we didn't use the harness. Strict rules from day 1 of no baby set about not getting down from the table seem to have worked.

I think it was just after she was 2. I agree it was a struggle to get her in and out, but she is quite slim. I think I took the pillow off too and adjusted the top plate so it was as far back (as comfy) but it opened up a big more leg room.

In terms of her escaping, I had to make it clear that there was no getting down until you ask mummy and hands/face are wiped (took a few times but ok now). (we never used the harness btw).

I took it off with my son when my daughter was born as I couldn't put him in and out and hold her at the same time! He was almost 2.

With my daughter we took it off when she was just over 1 as she was always trying to climb up by herself (yes I was there supervising, she's always been a climber!) and I figured I'd rather she could sit down and stay there when she got to the top than teeter about with nowhere to go.

Wow. It's like the cot thing - I want to keep my little boy imprisoned by the baby set for as long as I can squeeze him in!! He'll be off in an instant otherwise...so at 2 and a quarter I'm still wedging him in - have to take his shoes off but its fine and there's NO escape so no need for the harness.

I'm either a total pushover (probable) or he's just wild (possible) as strict rules or not he'd be slipping off 5 mins into a meal given a chance...
