Hello! We are hoping to go to Sicily for the next half term with our 1 and 4 year olds (and maybe a few mates).

I'd love it if someone could recommend a particular villa in Sicily that is suitable for a family. Ideally we'd like to be walking distance to or within a sea village with relaxed family restaurants and a bit of ambience (as opposed to being tucked away somewhere in the hills). We'd also be fine with a reasonably spacious apartment.

Anyone been there and can give us a shove in the right direction?

Last year we stayed at Casu Blu with Solo Sicily. Its not in a village but a 5 minute drive to the lovely Scopello and the Zingaro nature Reserve (dodgy road from road to villa should have been surfaced by now). I loved Western Sicilly and would go again. The villa is simple but has a pool and lovely sea views.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
    • First mate - I wondered if I was imagining things at 4.45 this morning . Apparently not .
