Switching to bulb energy

I am with bulb and think they are great. Never need to wait long on a phone line. I am pretty organised at giving them a reading every month. The app is easy to use. My bills are tiny bit cheaper than when I was with bg and I was on the special money saving expert/Martin Lewis bulk deal with them. We both get money off if you use a friend?s link. Here is mine https://bulb.co.uk/refer/giacomelli (bit cheeky but hey you asked!)

I use a service called Flipper, they move me automatically when I can save money. It costs ?50 a year but they'll only charge you if they save you more than ?100. They've moved me twice in the last two and a half years and I've been very impressed with the service.

  • 1 month later...

Thinking it was bad move , just had first bill and although my gas stayed roughly what I expected

My electric for a month is ?241.66 that's my normal for 3 months , readings correct , but I know something is wrong can't contact them until Monday . Does anyone know if smart meter fitted by British gas should still be accurate. As it's not showing a increase in electricity used.

How did you get on with this, as I was thinking of switching to Bulb too?!

that is a huge amount for electricity - unless you have some furtive hydroponics going on in the attic. First bills often have adjustments on them for previous estimates etc- best to check whether the previous supplier has credited you back anything as well - ours did some stuff to correct the accounts after handover

    • Pot holes feel like they’re becoming more of an issue (based purely on my perception, don’t know what data there is). Even worse outside London imo. I suspect as Mal says, heavier vehicles are part of the problem (both SUVs, but also EVs which are generally heavier than ‘conventional’ cars), but regardless the council need to be more on it.  You can use the fixmystreet app to report them (and other street maintenance issues).
    • Prior to the LTNs do you have many examples where the results of consultations were not acted upon? Seems to me the council is picking and choosing when they action the feedback from their constituents.......   Have you looked at the results from that, if not, tale some time to have a look, its quite enlightening..it seems the majority do not think the changes will have the desired effect....but you know it's not a refendum so the council has chosen to ignore the feedback of constituents. They must be assuming full responsibility for ignoring residents feedback- clearly they think they know what's best for us. If it all goes wrong let's see if they take responsibility!   Earl, here's a question for you (and i know you wont answer it but lets see)...why do you think the council has never asked a yes/no question to local residents about anything to do with the LTNs - wether they exist or whether we think the changes they have suggested (using our money) are needed/worthwhile? Or a consultation with a yes/no answer but we all know why. I still laugh that the council had to re-run the CPZ consultation with a yes/no answer and finally had to listen to their constituents...they took a hell of a spanking! They have been cheating the system for years and getting away with it.
    • What other matters of policy would you have decided by referendum, or is it just the one you feel strongly about? 🙄 We live in a representative democracy for good reason. After Brexit I thought this would be even clearer. We’ve had local elections since the LTN came in and those who introduced it were returned to office. You may want to revisit a debate that finished 3 years ago, but it isn’t going to happen. You need to move on. …still no one willing to defend the claims in One Dulwich’s latest missive I note. 😂
    • Please describe the missing item to me, and If the description is correct I let you know where to collect it. If noone responds I will bring it to the police in the next few days.
