Junior nanny/au pair plus needed West Dulwich - from July 2018

Recommended Posts

We are looking for a new junior nanny/au-pair "plus" to join our busy, energetic family for 12+ months from the beginning of July 2018. Sadly our existing nanny, who has been with us 2 years, is moving overseas with her boyfriend. Please contact me if this role interests you!

We live in West Dulwich and we have two boys aged 4 and 7 (8 in August). Dad works and travels very frequently. Mum works regular hours, 4 days a week (Monday from home, and does not work Fridays).

The boys go to the same school, but their year groups are located on different sites. Both sites are 10-15 mins walk from home. We do, however, require a nanny with a driving licence and you will have use of the "nanny car" as we like to call it!

The hours differ during term time and holidays, and the weekly pay will reflect this.

Hours will be as follows:

During school term time:

Monday: 3 ? 6:30pm only (school pick up)

Tuesday ? Thursday:

7am - 9am: get kids dressed and ready for school, get breakfast, walk the boys to school

3pm- 6:30pm: collect kids from school, bring home for play time. Help older boy with homework/reading/music practice, prepare dinner for kids (and nanny if she would like to eat with the kids), get kids ready for bed.

During the school holidays (1 week in October, 1 week at Christmas (you will always have Christmas off), 1 week in February, 2 weeks at Easter and 8-9 weeks in Summer), we will need extra help and hours will be 9 - 5pm on Mondays and 07:00am - 6:30pm Tuesday - Thursday. We will always take 6 weeks holiday a year and you will be paid but NOT expected to work during these weeks.

Plus two nights babysitting (Monday ? Sunday) a week, although I have to say we rarely use both nights! Occasional overnight care for kids may also be required if both Mum and Dad have to travel, but this is unusual.

The pay we are offering will reflect the additional hours, and will be averaged across the year so the weekly pay is the same throughout the year.

Very little housekeeping will be involved as our cleaner comes to the house twice a week and also does laundry. We will however need someone who is clean and tidy and is able to spot things that clearly need to be done (e.g. put muddy sports kid in the laundry after school).

An nanny joining our family should:

* be comfortable with, and enjoy, playing with young children

* have a good sense of humour and sense of fun!

* be energetic and happy to get the kids out and about to the park, etc

* be sociable and happy to explore the local area, get out and about, make friends with other nannies and nannies locally

* able to help with basic homework (maths, reading and spelling)

* have a basic understanding of nutrition and be happy to cook simple meals for herself and the children

* be very reliable. Our current nanny has only been sick for 2 days in the last 2 years! Reliability is key to us.

You will have a lovely large double bedroom with your own bathroom, TV, wifi, and use of a car.

We want our nanny to feel part of our family and we will treat our nanny with the utmost respect, and instill the same in our children. We want you to feel comfortable and happy in our home and we will do our best to make you feel that way.

    • Defo, where are you based so I can collect?
    • There is no other way than to move out. I am in such a situation myself where our neighbours are complete assholes. They breached the Covenants and when we pointed it they said to take them to court if we want.  Unfortunately, they have made our life miserable and we have to move out.    What helped in our situation is having a calm conversation face to face. It only happened after they tasted their own medicine(i know it's mean but nothing else helps).   I know it's unfair but better move out and prioritise your mental health.
    • Thank you so much for the reply. Jeffery turned up a couple of hours ago. I edited title to say found but somehow it didn't save. Thank you so much for going to the trouble of posting this sighting... even if it didn't turn out to be Jeff.  Jeff came running down the street like a bat out of hell and ran into the house. Never been so relieved. Mind you i've been up and down the roads shouting his name out all day. Even in Wingfield street. 🤗
    • I saw a smallish black cat outside 1 Wingfield Street just now.  I am not convinced it was Jeff, the eyes look a little different.
