Kwayz
Hi there everyone, hope you are all doing well. I was wondering if I could pick the brains of any one regarding a scald I suffered some months back from boiling hot water in a kettle. Whilst the scald has fully healed, unfortunately it has left quite a scar on the area burned and I wondered if any body had any tips or suggestions towards reducing the scarring. Any help would be truly appreciated. Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/188372-burnscald-scar/ Share on other sites
Elphinstone's Army
Vaseline Kwayz, or ask in the excellent Lloyds Pharmacy on NCR, or coconut oil? keep it flexible and lubricated, good luck, keep us posted. prit
you could try kelo-cote - I used it on a smaller scar once and it seemed to fade well, but as I only had one scar, I couldn't compare against how it would've faded naturally if you see what I mean. good luck! Blah Blah
Hi Kwayz. Was the orginal burn first or second degree, and did you seek treatment at the time? It takes around 18 months for a second degree burn to fade. And you should avoid sunburn on the affected area to aid that healing. skylorikeet
I have had success using Bio-oil on operation scars. It's expensive but you don't need a lot and I would buy it from a chemist rather than online as some reviews talk of fake products online.https://www.bio-oil.com/uk/uk-en Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/188372-burnscald-scar/#findComment-1237330 Share on other sites
Kwayz
Thanks for the suggestion prit, I do see what you mean by being unable to make a comparison and I'll be sure to check it out.Hi blah blah, I'm not too sure if the burn was first or second degree (my personal guess would be either a very bad first or second) but I went to the hospital after the incident and was told by the doctor it was only a superficial burn and should heal without any scarring but this hasn't been the case since it happened last August. Your 18 month period is encouraging though and thanks for the sunburn advice. Thanks for the link and advice Skylorikeet, I will also look into using bio oil and keep you all updated. As mentioned before, I am very grateful for all taking their time out to reply with suggestions. Thanks againKind regards Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/188372-burnscald-scar/#findComment-1237463 Share on other sites
