A new season of Premiership Football is about to kick off, the new series of X Factor is currently being recorded in readiness for it?s usual 3 month run up until Christmas, Eastenders continues it?s relentless broadcast of BBC propaganda and the benefit cheques arrive in their millions ? unabated, despite the government promising otherwise.

So that?s 90% of the UK population happy with their lot then. Another 5% are happy with their lot because the aforementioned 90% are happy with their lot ? by design ? whether they voted for them or not, another 4% are just happy because their drug habit cons them into thinking that they are, which leaves the final 1% reaching for their keyboards to log on to the internet ? in attempt to inform the 90% that they need to wake up and smell the coffee.

But, will they ever listen. In fact, do they even want to listen. I?m beginning to wonder because history tells us that this has been going for some little while:

?Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions ? everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses?

Juvenal ? 100 A.D.

I don?t know what the answer is but I do know for certain that I?m definitely in the 1% that will continue to shout as loud as I can until an officer of the, soon to be formed, European Union Police Force rolls up with a 4?4, ties a rope to my keyboard and pulls it from my cold, dead hands.

Meanwhile, I?m off to grab the biggest tub of popcorn I can afford so that I can watch the continuing battery of hysteria surrounding the American downgrade from AAA to a Duracell AA ? amidst rumours that the USA will also be downgraded from a Super Power to a Wind Power and Barack Obama from President of the USA to a ?jug eared half Kenyan half wit? with a teleprompter addiction.

Incidentally, nothing on the current economic meltdown (Euro, Dollar or otherwise) from Cameron, Osbourne, Miliband Minor, Balls, et al ? I guess they?re all on holiday ? burying their heads on a sandy beach somewhere.

Oh well, happy days.

X Factor starts soon...

    • I agree with Jenjenjen. Guarantees are provided for works and services actually carried out; they are not an insurance policy for leaks anywhere else on the roof. Assuming that the rendering at the chimney stopped the leak that you asked the roofer to repair, then the guarantee will cover that rendering work. Indeed, if at some time in the future it leaked again at that exact same spot but by another cause, that would not be covered. Failure of rendering around a chimney is pretty common so, if re-rendering did resolve that leak, there is no particular reason to link it to the holes in the felt elsewhere across the roof.
    • Hey, I am on the first floor and I am directly impacted if roof leaks. We got a roofing company to do repair work which was supposed to be guaranteed. However, when it started leaking again, we were informed that the guarantee is just for a new roof and not repair work. Each time the company that did the repair work came out again over the next few years, we had to pay additional amounts. The roof continues to leak, so I have just organised another company to fix the roof instead, as the guarantee doesn't mean anything.
    • Fernando came and sorted out our very overgrown garden.  He is a very friendly chap, works meticulously and charges very fair prices.   We’ve been using his Services for many years now and will continue to do so.    Here are his contact details if you have any gardening questions: Fernando - 07946 757938
    • Danny re-tiled and generally cleaned up the roof tiles on our front bay in SE22 a few weeks ago. He was fairly priced, and although the scope of the work changed slightly (something we couldn't have foreseen before removing the existing tiles), the price remained the same for the job. He and a colleague worked hard for three days (one more than initially planned) through pretty grim weather. With anything unexpected, he came to me with solutions rather than problems. They were polite, courteous, and left the site as tidy as they could after cutting roof tiles in the driving rain!
