Yes it does - a bloody great crack followed by a crash.

I saw it fall at about 4.45 today (Mon 16th Apr) nr Rosebury Gate. A big old tree, it has fallen across the dog walking path and is 'resting' at an angle of about 35 degrees blocking the path - but it could crash down to the horizontal at any time - maybe held up by surrounding tree branches or its own branches resting on the ground.

I reported it to park attendants but if you're going to walk your dogs nr there or let your kids off the leash I'd steer clear as it's possibly unstable and could still be dangerous.

When I checked it out I could see that the tree had fallen because the ground around the roots was very wet so it had uprooted itself and fallen (possibly because roots had died and rotted) rather than the trunk breaking because it was rotten - guessing that the weight of the upper part of the tree caused it to topple as the anchorage was no longer sufficient to hold it. The crashing and cracking was as it fell between other trees.

Possibly the result of Thames Water's interventions in the park? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1346873,1346897#msg-1346897

    • Hello! I am looking for my first prenatal yoga glass and would be grateful for recommendations around East Dulwich. I have done yoga on and off for years butnever prental. Preferably after work during the week or early mornings but can make time during the day and weekends. Would love to find a teacher with good knowledge (I really don't know what I am doing) and hopefully meet a few other local women. Thank you!
