Trouble in peckham?

I live just at the bottom of rye lane, near the park. Hearing loads of sirens. Does anyone know if there's riot-like trouble happening in peckham?

i didnt think it would be long until someone mentioned peckham / riot.

lets hope not anyway, otherwise from the trajectory of the riots (moving north to south) we'll have a Dulwich Riot tomorrow, with Pretty's being looted for their organic figs.

I was in Peckham an hour or so ago - noticed one of the mobile phone shops had a smashed front window, with alarms blaring and security gate down. No idea what had happened, but nobody looked particularly frantic (the staff were just milling round outside).

we were there earlier and there was tension in the air. we live in lordship lane and about 4 police cars with sirens have gone past in the last 1/2 hour.

12 Bus has just been stopped from going any further that Camberwell because of the problems in Peckham.

Mr Pickle has just cycled home, usual routes through Peckham blocked by police, generally said he saw lots of "youths" walking towards the area with hoodies up and scarves on. Maybe I'm just old, but I don't get the attraction of going to an area where there are rumours of trouble to join in on the action.

Just spoke to a friend who got off the train in Peckham to walk up towards Nunhead... said there were a lot of people milling about and there was an unusal atmosphere... shops closing up and putting their shutters down. Said he wanted to get out of the area pretty sharpish.
