EDF returning to it's heartlands - not consumer rip offs, social cohesion or geopolitics. Please leave any abuse for me on these threads not this one!

Been to Obergurgl many times - good runs, high, extremely snow sure, pretty and close to Innsbruck. Downsides a bit posh/expensive (excuse my humble roots). Any other recommendations - Albach seems lovely but a bit low (going in early January with my two (youth) kids). Please do include views on accommodation - we stay in 3* guest houses rather than the 5* Hotel Edelweiss.

My next thread will be on Tuscany holiday villas and second homes in Provence.

Mayerhofen - excellent range of pistes, especially as you can get up and down the Zillertal valley on the train to other resorts included in the skipass. Glacier at the head of the valley for guaranteed skiing no matter what. Great range of accommodation and eating places for all tastes and pockets, local beer very good.

Alpbach is very pretty, but unless you are a very slow skier or easily amused, you won't get much more than a couple of days out of it.

St Anton would be my recommendation - you can get the train straight there in just over an hour from memory. Accommodation can be a bit pricey, though.

Unless you join me in a Time Machine Loz.

10 Days Half-Board in St.Anton, including fares to London Airport ( can't truthfully remember whether it was Gatwick or Luton ) flight to Geneva then 5 hour Coach Trip to St. Anton and return travel all included...

For ................ ?36 per person.

It was 1974 though :)

    • You can get a card at the till, though, to get the discount. You don't have to carry it with you (or load it onto your phone), you can just get a different card each time. Not sure what happens if they notice 🤣
    • Yes..that may be the case but membership STARTING at £115 a month is still unafforable for many. Council gyms also have a large range of equipment and I had a  PT at Dulwich leisure centre when I was in Full Time employment who was incredible and even kept in contact during lockdown giving me a program I could do at home and checking in weekly at no charge or personal gain for herself. I dont doubt that Fit For may be a good gym (Its been in situ long enough so must be doing something right) However the cost of membership means it is affordable for the few not the many. If I could afford that kind of fee I would rather get a train to Canary Wharf and go to Virgin active where theres a pool and incredible classes and facilities
    • This sounds great 👍
    • We found a red TREK bike yesterday that had clearly been stolen and dumped. Would love to reunite it with its owner. Get in touch if you know whose it is.
