Looking for Au Pair from May 2018

Recommended Posts

We are looking for a fun, creative, calm, playful but responsible young person to join our family life as an au pair for 6-12 months from the beginning of May 2018. Please contact me if this role interests you!

We live in a pretty house with garden in West Dulwich and we have two boys aged 4 and 8 (9 in August). Dad and Mum work regular hours in TV / Film and book publishing. Dad does not work Fridays and looks after youngest son until he starts school full time in Sept.

We would pay ?100 a week and expect 25hrs of childcare in return. We would provide a nice double bedroom over looking our garden and a bathroom that is shared with the boys (they only use it briefly for an evening bath so mainly your own). You would have wifi and Netflix access. Our 4 bedroom house is sunny, stylish and we hope you would find it comfortable and we would like you to treat it as your own.

The boys go to the same school, 2 mins walk from home.

The hours will be as follows:

Monday - Thursday: 3 ? 6:30pm: collect oldest son and on two days youngest son from school, bring home for play time. Take / collect older boy from various after school, prepare dinner for kids, get kids ready for bed.

Wednesday: 12-3pm and Thursday: 9-3pm with youngest son.

Plus two nights babysitting a week, although I have to say we rarely use both nights! Occasional overnight care for kids may also be required if both Mum and Dad have to travel, but this is unusual and would be agreed and paid separately.

We will always take 4 weeks holiday a year and you will be paid but NOT expected to work during these weeks. You will always have Christmas off (1 week) and we could ask that you take your own holiday at the same time as us.

Some light housekeeping will be involved but not cleaning as our cleaner comes to the house once a week. We will however need someone who is clean and tidy and is able to spot things that clearly need to be done (e.g. clear up after cooking and meals, put kids laundry on).

We want our au pair to feel part of our family and we will treat you with the utmost respect. We want you to feel comfortable and happy in our home and we will do our best to make you feel that way.

    • I'm laughing at the reason for your edit 🤣
    • Please don't start now! Vapes still contain nicotine and you can still get addicted.
    • Would downstairs at  the EDT work? It is very noisy at weekends, but  quiet on some weekdays (though sometimes there are mum and baby gatherings!), the back room is nice and the food is ok and reasonably priced. I'm not sure about disabled toilets, you would need to check that out, but there are men's and women's toilets on the ground floor. Or The Palmerston or The Lordship, though I think their food is more expensive and the space isn't so nice as the EDT (in my opinion). I'm assuming in each place you can just have tea, coffee or soft drinks. You would have to ask about the specific food requirements, but surely these days most if not all places serving meals cater for things like vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free/dairy free needs?  Or, Franco Manca (pizzas) do vegan aka dairy free  cheese options I think (one of my grandchildren is dairy free, but I can't now remember if we had to take our own cheese in for her when she was little - a long time ago! Haven't eaten there for years, so I don't know what it's like now). Or, can't remember if it has been mentioned already, but possibly the Italian place near the bus stop - Due Fratelli??  - though it's not particularly cheap, there aren't a lot of vegetarian options in the pasta range (though the ravioli was tasty) and I can't remember if the toilets are on the ground floor or downstairs, or if there is a disabled toilet.
