I certainly want Arsenal to win the premiership. The thought of Chelsea or you lot winning the CL is too hideous to contemplate and the FA Cup is, of course, the Hammers. But tomorrow it's Brum for me.

I'm all in favour of the current champions league format, but it would still be very odd if a team like Spurs were to win it having never been champions of their own league in the last 40 years. It would be good for Spurs but bad for a competition that seeks to find the best team in europe.
Not sure how you can be in favour of a CL format that allows for the majority of qualifying teams to be non-champions and then say it would be bad for one of them to win it. Maybe there should be a UEFA vetting panel at the semi-final stage. "So, when exactly were you last champions?" "Oh."

Exactly - you can play but you can't get to the final, you don't mind if we put another English team in the final in your place, how about your friends from North London, the red and white team. ;-)

No. my point is that the format is good in that its not just the previous years cahmpions that get into the competition, however to win the CL and never to have won your own league, is not a good result for the competion.

I *think* that this wouldn't have been the case for any English team that's ever qualified

Not validity - just whether its good for the competition, given its name/history etc.

    • @Jenijenjen I assure you we are always polite and friendly too! Which is why the behaviour we have been receiving is so frustrating. The kids always leave her with a “Thank you have a lovely day”  Our concern is leaving the gate slightly wedged doesn’t stop the action of slamming it open and closed…still leading to damage
    • If you're talking about who I think you are, I find them more exuberant than rude and usually smiling and polite. But then, I'm usually smiling and polite to them. Can you not wedge open your gate when you're expecting them?
    • It worked. Corbyn did similar although not to the same degree. Momentum had a purge too when Corbyn got in. All his political life he opposed the EU but when it came to the crunch he publicly backed them during the referendum. I believe that was to appease the middle classes that he was appealing to. He messed up big time when wooing the middle classes at Glastonbury whilst ignoring his core working class voters up north. They also happened to be leave voters. He got starstruck and forgot about his politics. Corbynmania was thing, a movement but it was also the making of his downfall. For the many and not the few came back and slapped him right in the face.
    • Nothing to do with the tories overspending whatsoever eh! Blame the last 10/11 years of blatant mismanagement, incompetence and willful deceit on the poor bastards that were left with the fall out of a complete car crash tory government.   One PM after another falling on their sword. Open corruption and piss taking throughout covid and a legacy of huge debt and destruction yet in your view it will be labour's 4 years in power that bankrupts us in 2029.  Another one that must think people are blind and stupid.  Rejoice rejoice. It's a pity he and his fellow clowns were completely annihilated at the ballot box. I mean they were doing so well after all 🙃🙃
