Not really, but maybe I should start one!

"MPs have released a letter from a journalist jailed for phone hacking, alleging senior News of the World figures knew what was going on.

Former royal editor Clive Goodman wrote the letter to News International as he appealed against his dismissal in 2007.

Mr Goodman said hacking was "widely discussed" at editorial meetings until talk of it was banned by the editor."

I don't know whether you mispelt 'Coulsdon' or 'Coulson', Lady D.

If it's Andy then by all means throw the book at him. Something hefty at that, maybe along the family bible lines.

If it's the suburb of Coulsdon I couldn't support any banging up as my Auntie Philomena lives out that way, and while we're not close I wouldn't wish banging up on her.

I sincerely hope so and I have no objection to my taxes being spent on banging the lot of them up for a very long time!

Anyone who's downloaded any of the new evidence available on the CMS Committee's page, note that the attachment of 11 August from Harbottle and Lewis is now available, after a period of inaccessibility, in what looks to be a more recent and larger version. It's the file that contains their detailed responses.

[Ed: ... including, at file p39, a copy of Clive Goodman's letter of appeal against his dismissal.]

At the last committee hearing on 19 July James Murdoch said he relied on three things for his belief that the NOTW hacking was a case of a single rogue reporter. These were:

1) The police closing their investigation

2) The legal opinion of outside counsel

3) A Press Complaints Commision review saying there seemed to be no cause for further action

Re (2) the Harbottle & Lewis submission nicely undoes the confidence claimed to have been placed in their very limited investigation.

Re (3), it's nice to see this submission from the PCC:

Baroness Buscombe, Chairman, PCC to John Whittingdale MP, Chairman CMS Committee 26 July 2011

"I write further to your public hearing on 19th July.

"In it, you will recall, Mr James Murdoch made reference to News International "relying" on - among other things, including the police investigation - Press Complaints Commission reports regarding the extent of the alleged criminal activity at the News of the World.

"For the record, I would like to make clear that the two reports issued by the PCC in connection with phone hacking (the latter of which has now been withdrawn) were largely based on disclosures made to the PCC by the News of the World itself. The PCC, in common with the police, was relying upon information given to it by the newspaper.

"As is now clear, the information provided to the PCC was not correct."

I remember going to the PCC's report immediately after Murdoch mentioned it. That they were reliant on the NOTW's submissions was stated quite explicitly within it!

    • Niko was recommended to me through a group chat for my road, where everybody raves about him. I soon realised why as he did an amazing job installing an outdoor tap for me. I needed it done quickly but had a hectic schedule, and Niko did everything possible to accommodate this, bringing the parts and working late on a Friday, having worked out the best solution for my maze of pipes. The tap looks great and works amazingly with good pressure. He made minimal mess and cleaned everything up, and charged me a very competitive price. On top of that he is delightful to chat to and willing to give advice on other matters. He’s a lovely man and will be my go-to for any issues in the future! Recommend to anybody in the Dulwich/ Peckham/Camberwell area!!
    • We've used Aria a couple of times - this time a tap that was causing water hammer elsewhere in the house, he replaced it and checked all was well. He was prompt, quick in his work, and charged what he said he would. Will use him again.
    • Hi I found a phone on the pavement near the bus stop half way up lordship lane opposite M&S and have handed into one of the estate agents there (KFH). Please call in there if you have lost it.
