My BFF (ha, awful phrase) is coming to sunny SE London next week with her kids, 1x3 y/o girl and 1x6mo old boy. I've got a 20mo old and 1mo old. What can we do locally? Cp one o'clock club is slightly out, massively far on the bus (we are both carless...)

was thinking PR 1 o'clock club but have read less than great things about the new set up, especially as we will need our toddlers contained, due to having to shove the baby on a boob frequently etc.

Any ideas, forum?

I was thinking Horniman too! It's just the 176 up there, hopefully we could both get our massive double buggies on!

have also heard excellent things re: sally army playgroup but wasn't sure if it was on during the hols? If it is, excellent, seb, lex and I will give it a go tomorrow too...

Hi Ruth, you could still go to the PR 1 o clock club. Its only the new bit - outside the club - which is a bit unsuitable for toddlers. The gate is now bolted shut (so no escape possible) and the water tap is turned off, so no wet toddlers either. Still places to sit down and all the toys are out in the outside bit, plus you can always go inside if it rains. Just thinking its closer to you on the bus....opens at 10.30am. Also, the new/existing play equipment is due to open soon - I was told it was this week, but think it was a tad optimistic. Either way, still a good option in my opinion x
Don't know if you tried the Sally Army today Ruth, but my sources tell me its closed for the hols still, and not sure when in Sept it will restart. The 185 also goes to the Horniman from the McDonald's stop in Camberwell so hopefully both double buggies can get on one bus! Might be worth taking slings for little ones too so they can stare at the fish etc in the aquarium.
If you stay out for lunch, the Bread of Life Cafe caters well for the ages you'll have between you - my kids still enjoy playing with the small selection of toys they have there, and the food is great (and very competitively priced). It used to be my saving grace when both were very young and the weather was bad - a little santuary where I could sit and have a cup of tea and not worry about where they were.

Hello,

I was just looking for something to do with my 9 month Old today & came across this thread. I know you said Sally Army is closed for the summer holidays but can you tell me where & when it is? Think I'd like to give it a go when it starts up again.

Thanks

Mel

    • I was woken around midnight the other night as a Lime man tried to untangle a heap of three bikes someone had piled on my driveway. They block the pavements and people knock them over in frustration. I wrote to Lime and told them that in future any bikes left near my property would be securely stored away for collection at a mutually convenient time for both parties. I confiscated one at the weekend but a man knocked on our door looking to rent it while I was at work and my son gave it to him! I told Lime it's not fair of them to push the problem on to the local collection depots, they create the problem by allowing users to dump the things wherever they like. If they were penalized for doing so that would put an end to it.

"I’m proud to be an advice volunteer at Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers (SDCAS), a community that welcomes and supports refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers in Southwark. Right now, we’re facing the toughest moment in our nearly 30-year history. Unless we raise funds this September, we may not be able to keep offering the hot meals, English classes, advice, and safe community space that so many people rely on. That’s why I’m asking you to support our emergency Crowdfunder: 👉https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/save-sdcas  Even a small donation, or sharing this with your friends and family, will make a huge difference in helping us to reach our £70,000 goal and keep SDCAS open. • "2.2.1 The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) has undertaken a comprehensive consultation process with its residents and stakeholders regarding the proposed development which aims to create 41 additional units and has been designed to address the growing demand for accessible and supportive accommodation for individuals with visual impairments. 2.2.2 The consultation process has been a key part of the planning phase, ensuring that the needs and preferences of current residents are taken into account. RNIB has held several meetings, workshops, and surveys to gather feedback on the design, facilities, and overall impact of the new development. Residents have been encouraged to share their views on various aspects, including accessibility features, communal spaces, and the integration of the new blocks with the existing infrastructure which has directly informed the proposals. 2.2.3 The Applicant also engaged with the local MP, Helen Hayes, and a couple of local councillors at the behest of RNIB tenants to provide new homes to promote independent living for its Blind and Partially Sighted residents"     Seems like a very sensible and necessary proposal to me.
