My BFF (ha, awful phrase) is coming to sunny SE London next week with her kids, 1x3 y/o girl and 1x6mo old boy. I've got a 20mo old and 1mo old. What can we do locally? Cp one o'clock club is slightly out, massively far on the bus (we are both carless...)

was thinking PR 1 o'clock club but have read less than great things about the new set up, especially as we will need our toddlers contained, due to having to shove the baby on a boob frequently etc.

Any ideas, forum?

I was thinking Horniman too! It's just the 176 up there, hopefully we could both get our massive double buggies on!

have also heard excellent things re: sally army playgroup but wasn't sure if it was on during the hols? If it is, excellent, seb, lex and I will give it a go tomorrow too...

Hi Ruth, you could still go to the PR 1 o clock club. Its only the new bit - outside the club - which is a bit unsuitable for toddlers. The gate is now bolted shut (so no escape possible) and the water tap is turned off, so no wet toddlers either. Still places to sit down and all the toys are out in the outside bit, plus you can always go inside if it rains. Just thinking its closer to you on the bus....opens at 10.30am. Also, the new/existing play equipment is due to open soon - I was told it was this week, but think it was a tad optimistic. Either way, still a good option in my opinion x
Don't know if you tried the Sally Army today Ruth, but my sources tell me its closed for the hols still, and not sure when in Sept it will restart. The 185 also goes to the Horniman from the McDonald's stop in Camberwell so hopefully both double buggies can get on one bus! Might be worth taking slings for little ones too so they can stare at the fish etc in the aquarium.
If you stay out for lunch, the Bread of Life Cafe caters well for the ages you'll have between you - my kids still enjoy playing with the small selection of toys they have there, and the food is great (and very competitively priced). It used to be my saving grace when both were very young and the weather was bad - a little santuary where I could sit and have a cup of tea and not worry about where they were.

Hello,

I was just looking for something to do with my 9 month Old today & came across this thread. I know you said Sally Army is closed for the summer holidays but can you tell me where & when it is? Think I'd like to give it a go when it starts up again.

Thanks

Mel

    • I've found it quite a useful thread.  Apparently protein powders are toxic. Not that I have ever, or will ever, try them.   https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/the-hidden-dangers-of-protein-powders
    • Personally can’t stand carpets however where I am renting has carpet in  bedroom and hall. Not great quality and certainly not cleaned. Was  in B & M recently and looking at carpet shampoo -wow got a can costing £2.99 to test.. No scrubbing as others seemed to imply. Spray, leave and poof - smells great, no dabbing or scrubbing and c leaving rubbish. First to admit is only temp solution but no need to hire carpet cleaner instantly  or pay for a company to come and deal with professionally. For 3/6 months happy to have used this - Have a carpet cleaner and in a month or so plan to use it.    Buy a steam cleaner for floors - not expensive - much better than mop and bucket and more hygienic all round. Can pick up second hand ones on e bay.
    • Is this a true story? What protein powder causes kidney damage? Why didn't you cite an article? I shop at H&B, mostly to buy their castor oil, however, I would recommend researching any product beforehand. They do have very informative articles on their website. To be honest, I don't see the point of this post. You could have just taken the product back for a refund or complained in store and in writing.
    • Well the Italian on Lordship Lane  recommended here was delicious.  Thank you so very much -my party were extremely pleased with ambience, location and lovely food plus puddings to die for. They are also on Deliveroo.  Will certainly be back when I am back in 6 weeks time. Went past Love Dulwich at lunchtime on my way to Italian - only a party of 2 - food might be excellent but decided to give it a miss - wasn’t impressed with manager who admitted he had only been there 2 weeks. Might be being totally unfair but doubt it, as no comments since about a month ago from Pugwash.
