mockney piers
The mocklet has a pretty bad allergy to eggs, which obviously we found out the hard way (vomitting, swelling etc, 'it wasn't the eggs I gave him' said the mockerina-in-law).On holiday this week he got quite a disturbing rash that looked almost like scalding blisters. An anti histamine got rid of it, but we're not sure what caused it, we think probably prawns.Does anyone know how we go about finding out? Can we do this on the NHS or do we have to go to some sort of specialist, I really have no clue. Pickle
You should be able to do it on the NHS, start by going to your GP for a referral - from memory they have an allergy testing unit at Kings. Belle
I was told (but haven't put it to the test) that if there is a history of this kind of thing in the family that might help your case for getting tests on the NHS. me and husband both v atopic so shd get son tested for allergies at some point - have also experienced him getting weal like hives or similar but they always disappear so fast, without any other associated problem, that I haven't yet done anything about it. Couldn't pinpoint a particular food either - if you're thinking shellfish, that cd help your case too - always found with the GP that if I went in saying 'I think he has X' it seemed to help focus the appt. buggie
Would say that the history Mocklet's got of reaction/rash would be strong enough to get referral for allergy testing even if there isn't a family history. The allergy team at Kings are fantastic and hugely knowledgeable. Hope all goes ok.
