....also looking at p&t and very undecided what to go for. A side by side defo not going to work for us, and am pretty convinced that p&t must be one of the best doubles due to lots of friend recommendations & the sheer number of them in ED!! ...but am concerned about cocoon situation and also limited recline option.

Also, does anyone have advice on the different p&t models? I.e explorer v vibe v new verve??

Look here and here for loads of info.

As far I know the only real tandem alternatives are the Britax B dual (which is wider than the mountain buggy side by side) and the icandy peach blossom (expensive). There are others but these along with the phil and teds seem to be the main options.

I have the explorer - I wouldn't recommend it - the sun hood is nearly impossible to fit on especially in newborn/toddler mode (look round the playgrounds - explorers everywhere with the sun hood falling off!). I like the sound of the verve as the doubles seat does recline - which has to be a bonus! But again is the most expensive model I think!

I had a Vibe (my age gap was 16.5 months). Daughter was in the cocoon for 4 months then moved her to the underneath seat, and we didn't have any trouble with comfort etc... she still slept, albeit in an upright position (it reclined slightly). I put a really thick buggy snuggle in it (my old Bugaboo one) and it was fine.

The P&T prams have their disadvantages, but having tried a number of different double buggies in the first year or so of having two kids I always came back to it as the most practical solution.

I've got the Vibe2, my son is 4 mths and in the back seat (reclined), 19mth daughter in front.

Daughter happy underneath too, although better not reclined when she is in bottom seat.

Both happy.

Only issue I have is back wheels are quite wide, although not as wide as a double buggy. I also find manoeuvring in small spaces awkward.

Buggy seems light.... Until I put my toddler in but then I can't blame that on the buggy ;-)

    • I’m broadly in agreement with you, Dogkennelhillbilly. But why the meme? It’s a very unfair representation of Sean Dyche, a man who to my knowledge has never engaged in any culture war bollocks. From his Wikipedia entry: Dyche features in an internet meme criticising modern trends in football, in which the phrase "utter woke nonsense" is attributed to him; he said "I wish I'd copyrighted it. Considering I didn’t actually say it, it does follow me around".
    • Whisky Macs, like Harvey's Bristol Cream and Cinzano Bianco & lemonade, are a taste of Christmas past sadly lost to many. A little Whisky Mac and icing sugar whisked through whipping cream makes a festive accompaniment to stollen or Christmas pudding.
    • Legal matters are notoriously slow.  There is no rule that communication has to be via email, fax or letter. If the issue is that you want to claim damages to the property because of poor practice, you would have to lodge a complaint with the ombudsman, but surely the one to suffer the most is the “gold digger” beneficiary?    If that is not the wrong that needs righting, what is?
