We came back late one night recently from the airport with our 3 kids asleep in the car. We parked outside the 7/11 on Northcross Road so that my partner could nip in and buy a pint of milk.

3 charmless city drunkards came along and scooped up loads of apples and started throwing them (very hard) down the backs of peoples houses on Nutfield Road, aimimg at the windows.

They saw me in the car watching (a little aghast-it was early hours and they were throwing the apples extremely hard).

Get this- then they started throwing the apples at our windscreen ! Niiice.

I got out of the car to remonstrate, telling them I had sleeping kids in the car.

They told me to f**k off and jumped into a cab laughing.

Partner returns with milk oblivious.

I was so gob smacked I didn't even tell him. I didn't think he'd believe me......it was so surreal.

    • A friend of mine was into "skill swap" about 40 years ago. It wasn't within an organised scheme, she just offered services like help with painting in exchange for services received. She upset some people as they carried out their services for a living, I.e. for money. An organised scheme sounds much better.
    • Gosh, that is a blast from the past.  Friends in York were into this, he was an accountant and had things like decorating done in exchange.  Not sure if it was equivalent in terms of hours, and I recall HMRC being interested as it was a way of tax avoidance.   A link for a London wide scheme but have no idea of its popularity: https://www.londonwide.letslink.org/members/index.php
    • Is anyone else having problems trying to register their car for a residents LTN permit for upland road as the council web site only seems to want to allow blue badge holders a permit .
    • Posted around 12 cards 2 weeks prior to 24th December. Had some responses so know people have received them. Had about 20 cards - mixture of hand delivered and via post. After years of 'nagging' by myself and our daughters, we may have cured hubby of spending £4 plus on individual cards for our immediate family  ( when you have 12 immediate family it costs a bomb) Also as the girls state, they get put in the recycling bad at beginning of January regardless of cost.
