Yeah I know...but don't yawn. If you've had any credit card or high street bank loan in the past 10 years, now is a truly, monumentally, GOLDEN opportunity to claim back any PPI premiums you may have been asked to pay. The past months wranglings have seen the banks totally fold to the Ombudsman in what basically amounts to a full scale admission of liability in misselling.

Back In my post uni debt days I'd had a rolling loan from 2001-2008 and a few credit cards, used to supplement my meagre salary/buy guitars/ visit various wanton women. They were all paid off back in 2009, but in July this year I thought I'd call LTSB up in June to register a complaint regardless as their PPI was a condition of lending.

Result? I've just received a straight up letter simply offering to pay me all of my premiums back + any loan interest incurred on those premiums + general interest at 8%. Over 7 years, this all adds up to a fair whack on a compound interest basis and I now have a rather tidy cheque winging its way to me. As in enough to pay for a vintage Gibson 335/loads of drugs/er...new curtains.

So if this is you, strike whilst the iron's hot. You don't need a lawyer/shady claim back firm. Just call them up.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
