Painting and decorating company recommendation?

Hi there

We are buying a new house in August and I am looking for a top notch painting and decorating recommendation to come in and strip wallpaper and paint the top floor of the house over a 2 week period BEFORE we move in. It is 3 bedrooms, a box room, a laundry room and a bathroom.

Can anyone recommend a really good, reliable team?

Thank you!

Hi, we use Dave Sutherland and his team. They plastered and decorated most of the rooms in our house, and also painted the outside of the house. We found Dave via this forum and are so pleased we did as we have used him a number of times and are always delighted with the quality of his work. His number is 07951 810251.
Duncan Marlow, he's a one man band but very focused and cracks on. I used a company highly recommended from this site who's marketing said they were more detailed than other companies etc and they were really expensive so the next time I had to do up a place I tried Duncan as his cost was more reasonable and I had about what seemed like ten miles of skirting etc to get done and he was better, real attention to detail. I don't have his number to hand but he should come up on a search of the site.

We use airless spraying for ceilings and walls for speed and the ultimate finish and also hvlp for spraying woodwork and trim kitchen units and furniture and we also use traditional brush and roller system.we are decorators not builders or handyman.

Hello there BikeChick,

If you haven't sourced decorators for your new home yet do feel free to give me a call to discuss your project.

I am a locally based artist. However, I also decorate to support my studio time and have access to a small team to take on larger contracts, a bit about us.

Rupert and I, are both locally based professional artists and decorators, both with over 20 years experience in high calibre painting, decorating and light building works. We both have a great understanding of all paints, decorating materials and pay great attention to detail. The majority of our work comes through recommendations and/or local forums and we have many delighted clients in Dulwich, Herne Hill, Fulham and Pimlico.

If you don't require our decorating service perhaps you'd like some art for you bare walls?

    • I’m not a Gail’s fan but there’s no reason a business shouldn’t open on Christmas Day. However, nobody should be compelled to work the day which, given the widespread coverage of Gail’s questionable employment practices, has to be a possibility here.  The only business I ever use on the 25th is maybe a pub and that’s a rarity these days but buses running would be very welcome for visiting etc. But the swings in the park should definitely remain chained up. Are parks even open on Christmas Day?
    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
