I got a beautiful Mum & Baby Amber Necklace set from http://www.wildsheep.co.uk. Everybody comments on how cute we look with matching necklaces lol I think it really helped reduce his drooling and gum inflammation. I was really desperate as he wasn't sleeping, I ordered the necklace just before 4pm and it arrived the next morning! very speedy delivery (and I only paid 50p for delivery!) so that was a bonus!

Amber is fossilized or partially fossilized tree resin, and various types contain up to ~8% succinic acid. Succinic acid is known to be biologically active. Whether or not enough succinic acid is transdermally absorbed to have an anti-inflammatory or analgesic effect is not known. xx

I'm with Taper. There is absolutely no evidence that these necklaces work. If your child is wearing them 24/7 then there is almost certainly an increased risk of strangulation / choking, albeit a small one.

As quoted earlier "...based on the complete lack of plausibility on any level of efficacy any potential for harm, however small, must tip the balance of this equation away from the use of this product.

....reading that back, I realise that it could sound OTT, to be clear any risk are so small as to be neglible. Of course, if you want to spend a small amount of money on a necklace for your child, then it's your choice. IMO though (any based on the absence of any evidence or plausible theory of efficacy), it's extremely unlikely to have any health benefits.

    • She also suggested that the 2017 Manchester terror attack (perpetrated by an Islamist extremist) was due to "divisiveness" and tried to pin the blame on the far right. Grim, really.
    • Thankfully, it seems that yesterday's "Red vs Blue" school wars thing has turned out to be a hoax/ nonsense/ whatever. (See link below if you managed to avoid this stuff). In years to come, we might found out who - or which countries - has an interest in testing what happens when you post socially disruptive content online about fake events... In the meantime, thank you to our local teachers and other school workers, police community support officers and police officers. My commute happens to take me past a bunch of schools at dropoff/pickup times, and I noticed a much greater and more visible presence on streets outside/near schools than normal. Annoying as it must have been to be distracted from other important duties, I really value and appreciate them looking out for the kids. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/school-wars-trend-red-blue-london-police-latest-142328025.html https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jan/01/birmingham-new-year-fireworks-display-centenary-square-police

    • a) Because they published a leaflet in Urdu promising to give "Muslims a strong voice". This is reprehensible - just as a party that promised to give Protestants or Jews or Buddhists alone "a strong voice" would be acting in a sectarian manner. Parties - especially socialist ones like the English & Welsh Greens are now - should not be assymetrically promoting the interests of one religious group. b) Because they published a video in Urdu and Bangla criticising Kier Starmer for meeting Narendra Modi, when Modi has nothing to do with the issues discussed. Modi is a Hindu nationalist bigot - but in this context, the Greens are just shitstirring existing tensions between British Hindus and British Muslims for the purpose of trying to win Muslim votes - see the first point. FWIW I don't have any problem with parties communicating with the electorate in languages other than English (from Irish to Polish to Malayalam). What is very suspicious is when parties pump out sectarian messages only in one language... When Mamdani ran for Mayor of NYC (and won) he released plenty of campaign videos in multiple languages - but always with English subtitles too. There was never a suggestion he was sending different, sectarian messages to different groups.     https://uk.news.yahoo.com/why-greens-made-advert-urdu-164616073.html https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/uk/uk-green-party-accused-of-sectarianism-after-releasing-videos-in-urdu-and-bangla-featuring-pm-modi-and-gaza/articleshow/128826689.cms
