I cannot attend so please suggest this on my behalf - vertical burials. Am quite serious. Coffins could be buried vertically (feet first) with just as much dignity and ease as lengthwise and it would save space.

Many years ago when in Switzerland we noticed that the length of the graves was very very short. We attempted to discretely enquire why without success. My gran suggested that only explanation she could make sense of was vertcal insertion of the coffin and it made a lot of sense to me.

    • Sounds a horrible, random attack, quite possibly for social media clicks, or some kind of sick initiation into goodness knows what - it is reported they were filming the incident. I do not really doubt that any of this is true. Perhaps the friend who reported it elsewhere does not want to be identifiable? There has been an emerging issue with different types of anti-social teenage/ young adult behaviour on the Rye this summer and this latest incident indicates a tipping point into something much nastier. The park should be a safe and enjoyable space for all.
