Hi there,

We are looking to get a small tress for our front garden and have been the dulwich garden centre, which although great, doesn't have enough range. Does anyone know any pretty big garden centres that we can drive to? Don't mind them being up to an hour away - if they're good enough! Any recommendations would be very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Annie

Yes. There is a great one I used to visit when I used to go see my Great Aunt in her old folks home.

It in a tiny area called Sutton at Hone near Dartford and between M2 and M20 motorways. Hang on and I'll get the streetmap location.

OK it's here.

Bomb down the A2 and take a right on the A225 Hawley Road, which is the junction before the Darenth Interchange (which connects with the M25). The Hawley Garden Centre is on the right, and is just before the bridge which is - I think - the M25 or M20 motorway.

If you can not take a right on to the A225 Hawley Road then carry on to the big roundabout which is the junction of the M25, and go back on yourself so you can then do a left in to the Hawley garden Centre.

There's some nice country side around there.

If you CAN'T take a turn off the A2 to the A225 use a satnav or look in to the link above and work it out a different way through the very pretty towns of Wilmington, Sutton at Hone, via the A2!

Evergreen Wholesale Plant Nurseries is the one that we use, it's massive and sells trees galore.

It's all trade prices ( just walk in, they won't turn you away if you're not trade ) and not far away in Carlshalton/Wallington.

By far the best i've found (& I sell stuff to garden centres).

To discover the prices look on the label and the last digits of the code are the trade price.

You HAVE to go to Coolings in Knockholt, the other side of Bromley. It's about a 35 min drive from ED and has the best selection probably in the South East. We seem to end up there at least 5 or 6 times a year! www.Coolings.co.uk

It really is miles better than Ruxley Manor.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
