I would like to ask if anyone has a good suggestion of a private doctor that my husband and I could talk to regarding fertility? We are waiting for a referral from our GP in Peckham, but I don't out much faith in our surgery sorting this out for us as they have a tendency to be a bit rubbish! We would like to discuss our options; as I am 41 I know if we do wait for the GP referral at Kings we will have to pay around ?200, so we feel we may as well pay to go private. We've been trying for a baby naturally for about 2 years, but have found out the chances of it happening naturally is low, however, I feel IVF is not for me and am hoping to find out what any other options are, and whether they would work for us. If anyone has any advice or phone numbers I would be very grateful, thank you so much.

Hi, I have not been through the same but have heard from friends that zita west has a more holistic approach to things that greatly improves your chances either naturally or alongside assisted methods. Haven't got contact details but she will come up on Google. Not sure if this is what you are after. Good luck, I hope things work out well for you x Nicola

We tried for 4 years including 4 rounds of unsuccessful IVF and then had a baby naturally when I was 40. We saw Paul Serhal at CRGH for our last round of treatment and also again recently as at 42 we'd like another but nature's not playing ball! We're of a similar mind to you in that IVF is not right for us and in our experience Paul doesn't beat around the bush or push IVF if he feels it's not right for the individual http://www.crgh.co.uk/

Feel free to PM me if you'd like any more info

i saw your other post on making an appointment with Mr. Davis, who also treated me. Just wanted to add that I'm 41 and am 28 weeks pregnant with my second child. I'll be 42 just before her due date. I had loads of fertility treatments but both babies were actually natural conceptions. feel free to PM me for any info/advice and best wishes.

Hiya,

Thanks for taking the time to write. We have now got an appointment with Dr Colin Davis for 14th October. We hope to find out there what our options are and then assess our situation. We've been together very happily for a really long time and I know this won't break us, but my lovely husband is almost more upset about it than I am. I feel a bit scared, both of it working (getting pregnant) or not working!

It's all a bit overwhelming as I didn't feel that I wanted children until the age of 39, so I'm not a lady who is really maternal and has always wanted kids. I wonder though if that matters, as we do feel ready now. We will wait and see but I do believe in kharma and if it's meant to happen I feel it will, (or won't). Have a lovely evening, x

Acupuncture can't do anything about the quality of eggs but it can help enormously in making the womb good and ready for any successes thereby reducing the chances of miscarriage. It's also amazing for stress relief which is obviously very important when trying to conceive and it leaves you calm, energised and positive. Like you, I didn't feel IVF was a route I wanted to take and if it was meant to be, then it would happen. I had my first baby at 42 and conceived after just a few acupuncture sessions. I'll never know if the 2 things were related but I found the whole experience so beneficial that I like to think it did. Good luck x

Hi,

I wanted to plug myself here! My name is George Monkhouse and I work at the Vale Practice at 64 Grove Vale, a multidisciplinary clinic open over 10 years and a brilliant place to come to correct any manner of imbalances! The Vale Practice

I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council, the leading regulatory body for the practice of traditional acupuncture. Here is some evidence for the effectiveness of acupuncture for fertility.

The body needs balanced fluidity and strength throughout. Acupuncture works by diagnosing areas of blockage and/or weakness, and through the pressure points of the body that stimulate internal change, clears blockages and strengthens weak areas. When we have internal balance, we experience emotional, mental and physical freedom.

You can book appointments with me on 07801 813 893 or book through the Vale Practice directly 020 8299 9798

    • Thanks very much, that's really interesting. I feel better about the shredded paper not being recycled now! And even better that I can get it out of the house and into the green bin! I will save a bit for future composting though  (and homemade seed paper, thanks Peckhamgatecrasher) x
    • Hello. I think we have found him! Sending you a DM with my phone number.
    • That's fantastic news. Good on him.
    • I pass here almost every day and have never seen the local business struggle to load. There's plenty of space as things are.    Seems to me this is just the meddling council being ****heads yet again. These are their reasons: "BAWDALE ROAD Goose Green add a total of 35m new 'DYLs' on both sides south-east of its junction with Lordship Lane (22m on the side of No. 157 Lordship Lane, 3m o/s No. 2 Bawdale Road, and 10m opposite No.2 Bawdale Road) to protect access for large vehicles coming to collect from and deliver goods to the nearby businesses"   Consultation here: https://consultation.appyway.com/southwark/order/1c3a8926-8f51-47e1-8460-2727fec6d895
