Considerably more enviromentally sound than you: Lordship Lane witnesses greenie meanie shocker

Recommended Posts

Definitive scene witnessed on Lordship Lane on Saturday.

The two Green Party geezers drumming up support outside the Co-Op call to a young woman passing by to take a leaflet. Said young woman turns towards them, she adopts a self-righteous posture and says she'll read it on-line as it's more environmentally friendly. As she walks off victorious she plunges the dagger deeper saying she doesn't think it's very green of them to print their material on paper. Defeated and diminished, the (fair trade) linen clad greenies reply meekly that it is recycled paper. But they've lost and they know it. I smile at them sympathetically and they smile back. But I'm sure self-doubt will eat away at them for the next few weeks.

SNUB - Self-righteous "No" to Unwanted Booklets

They should have claimed that the paper was recycled in foot presses using rainwater ,then dried on mats and then written out by hand.

That would have been much greener than her nasty electricity guzzling computer!!

That would have been liking poking her in the eye with a [green] stick.

Take that self-righteous lady!!

Of course they'd probably have been lying.

They need to have a response to this, something like...

'If these leaflets persuade even one person today to insulate their loft, it will save twice as much in energy as it cost to print them - these leaflets are an investment in your future'.

Or something like that but true.

I agree with Huey. If the outcome outways the input they are on to a winner.

I stopped and chatted to them too - they will be taking part in Dulwich Meat Free Days - easiest way to be green!

    • It was around New Year 2023; I had walked my dog past the exact spot late that evening before it happened. There were a lot of cars in Straker's Road that night playing loud music. "Roadmen" Alice. We all know who they are but you are daring, through the use of public shaming and ostracism, people to declare something you already know. Tut tut Alice, white boys also affect a Roadman persona. There was a statistic I read on a council advert at a bus stop in Lambeth, it said "99% of young people in Lambeth have never been in trouble with the police". We all know 99% of the 1% are Roadmen so lets not pretend any further.
    • “Peckham rye is a very safe place to be” was someone not murdered for a phone a few years back, also daily muggings happening at the park if you look outside of you bubble
    • Is that your comment; people shouldn't overfill their bins? Nobody does. All those bins had lids closed. The problem is when they open them and the bin tips into the lorry and half a dozen pieces of litter fall to the floor. Are you actually denying photographic evidence?
    • Moved into new house and hallway isn't big enough for double buggy. Also steps up make it awkward and too heavy with both girls in. Looking to store in a buggy shed similar to nursery if anyone is looking to part with one?
