rainbow
I received an email from Halifax UK saying that my online banking account has been deactivate cos somebody had three attempt entering my online banking account and they asked me to follow a link to reactivate my account, I didn't of course, this all seems very dodgy cos I do not do online banking and secondly the email was sent dated 30th sept and it got to me on 29th of sept.Have anybody had the same experience? peterstorm1985
You were very sensible in not following the link to reactive the account - this would appear to be a scam. Have you contacted Halifax to let them know of this? If not, then your really should do so. Pugwash
I keep getting emails from various financial institutions and I ignore them all. I may have accounts with some of them but I have never used on line banking and am unlikley to use such a facility in the near future. Halifax is one I receive regularly and I do not have an account there anymore Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19912-email-alert-from-halifax/#findComment-480296 Share on other sites

ianr
>Have anybody had the same experience? It's a fairly routine one. Learning about reading email headers will help demystify. DJKillaQueen
No bank or financial institution will ever ask you via email to click a link to log in. It is a well known scam and if you hover your mouse over the sender you will see the real email of the sender, and it will never be the bank that claims to send it. Delete all such emails immediately or do as I do, and reply to the email, telling the thieving scumbags what I think of them :)). Ladygooner
When they arrive into my hotmail account I mark them as as a phishing scam - and hopefully hotmail will take action against them Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19912-email-alert-from-halifax/#findComment-480335 Share on other sites
mockney piers
Excellent RD.I've invested the groats and your money in a scheme to harvest sunshine from cucumbers, unfortunately the bottom fell out of the sunshie market last week and we've lost everything. Sue
Funnily enough I've just had one about half an hour ago purporting to be from Northern Rock fraud department but clearly not. What's a bit worrying is that I've only quite recently bought a Northern Rock ISA so I wonder how they knew or whether it's just a coincidence.I've forwarded it to Northern Rock's phishing department (and obviously not clicked on the link in the email :)) )ETA: OOER, what's really weird is that when I went to delete it, the email from "Northern Rock" had disappeared completely from my system. I know it existed because it is at the bottom of the forwarded email in my "sent" box.
