Looking for a good carpet cleaning

I have cream pure wool carpets that are old and stained here and there, but essentially really good quality carpet. I am going to rent my property and don't want the hassle and expense of re - carpeting, can anyone recommend a good carpet cleaner or firm ? Does cleaning actually get out most stains?
