Does anyone know the going rate for after school care? Thanks to the withdrawal of Council subsidy for after school care, our fees are going to increase 20%. Would be interested to know what others are paying - either in school, out of school, or for child minders or similar.

Gumboots is a charity and originally had St. Johns and St. Clements and Goodrich schools as their nominated schools- and met at the East Dulwich Community Centre.

Goodrich school then asked the organiser from Gumboots to locate at the school. EDCC is used for the St. John's kids.

Staff picked up from only these school.

Their Summer Holiday scheme is open to all children regardless of school

Goose Green primary's after school club is ?32 per child per week or ?7.50 daily rate for occasional attendance. It is run by the school (as local authority pulled funding for wrap around care - nothing like discouraging people from going to work eh?) and is on site.

    • Be thankful for the NHS. This is the price to treat a dog or cat. Imagine what it might be to treat a human being with cancer

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
