  1. Just saw this - specifically Army? My daughter was with the RAF cadets who meet at the hall on Lordship Lane (Forest Hill end - https://www.1475.org/) and really enjoyed it. She learned a lot and made some good friends from different schools. I know they are currently open to new recruits. Feel free to DM if any questions...
  2. Dulwich Library had a collection box (but that was pre-pandemic)
  3. Athenlay do a girls session on Saturdays (11.30-1pm) - not sure if it's on over the holdays though. Best place to check is on their facebook page...
  4. We used Mr Worktop in Camberwell (about 4 years ago) and they were very good. The joiners on Northcross Road might be able to advise on cutting/fitting new doors.
  5. You can also look on IMDB - all films have a parents guide, though this one doesn't have a lot of detail as it's so new. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4154756/parentalguide?ref_=tt_stry_pg - kind of depends on your kids and how they react to violence in particular.
  6. Agree children grow up a lot. Depends on the child, but daughter happy at home from about 3.50 to about 5.30 (changed my hours to start and finish earlier when she went to secondary school, as she was leaving house earlier so I could get to work earlier). Still some holiday clubs but not as many as for little ones - try to get her to coordinate doing things with friends to get her out and about.
  7. Temporary tarmac filling doesn't last very long - the pot hole on the roundabout in Dulwich village at the top of Burbage Road has been filled twice this year, but the tarmac just comes straight out again. False economy in my view...
  8. Hi Anna M - session is *probably* 9.30am but I don't have a 5yo so not certain. You can message Athenlay via https://www.facebook.com/AthenlayFootballClub/ to get more information.
  9. We love ours - were debating getting gas put to kitchen for a gas hob when had kitchen redone but as builder pointed out gas isn't going to get any cheaper. Find it heats up/cools down very quickly - will boil a pan of water for potatoes quicker than daughter and I can peel the potatoes for 3 people. Only downside is need for new pans but Ikea have some very good, reasonably priced ones - you need to have a magnet with you when you go pan shopping to be sure! PM if any more queries.
  10. IMDB.com - each film (unless it's very new) has a parents guide at the bottom which details what goes on in each film. Find it more and more useful as daughter gets older and wants to watch films that we watch...
  11. Does anyone know which pharmacies locally are providing this? I'm happy to pay for it but would rather not spend an afternoon phoning all pharmacies to find out which are doing the children's vaccine if someone already knows! Thanks
  12. Westfield Stratford easy to get to on the Overground to Canada Water, or Bromley
  13. Go to SMBS - great for fresh fruit and veg
  14. Re holiday cover, we used Scamps http://www.avpsports.co.uk/wp/ which was great when daughter was little. It's only 4-6 yr olds, so all quite little, and she was always desperate to "move up" to AVP with the big kids! Good range of activities. Not cheap, but most holiday cover isn't unfortunately!
  15. Blowfish bikes are very good at that age - take him to Balfe's and they can help. Our daughter had one with stabilisers on which came off easily when necessary - she didn't like her balance bike either!
  16. We used Musico South www.musicosouth.co.uk/ who are very good - they assess your child first and then suggest a suitable teacher from their pool. Ours was excellent with our daughter - judged her level just right.
  17. Athenlay https://www.facebook.com/Athenlay-Football-Club-111393445595443/?fref=ts are good
  18. Lots of places in Kent - Dymchurch and others around there are nice. Short drive (1.5hours max), Port Lympne wildlife park is nearby, beaches, Romney miniature railway. Don't know about hotel but lots of self catering places
  19. Little bump - come and get your exercise fix tomorrow morning at Athenlay FC - 10.15. See you there!
  20. Please see post in the Family Room Discussion http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1789614
  21. In case you aren't aware, Athenlay FC (https://www.facebook.com/Athenlay-Football-Club-111393445595443/) runs a free exercise class for women, on Saturdays, 10.15-11am at Athenlay?s ground (Homestall Rd, SE22 0NP). This is part of the club's commitment to making it a facility for the whole community. The class is run by Amy Lamont, and is suitable for all comers. Hope to see you there
