Totally FREE! E' Dul Cycle Rides: Sundays 9-30am London Pks & Blue Plaques short rides: Dates TBC

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Its only a few miles out and back. We move at a casual pace and stop if-need-be every 1/2 mile.

Looks like a couple more are joining us that are not on this list too!

Come along and I will look after you :-)

McCabe

Really enjoyed today - thanks! Nice easy pace, the only sweat I built up was after I left you, on the last stretch up hill to my house so definitely keen to start cycling to work now. Looking forward to the next run.

Such a great ride yesterday and in the Sun too.

* 28th April - Spitlefields: Towerbridge, Bricklane and more....

This is a 'MUST' ride, heading via Peckham library, up the old Surrey Canal to the doorstep and then over Tower Bridge. East bound along the Highway for 1/2 mile and then north bound through the back streets of towards Whitechapel and Spitlefiels.

PM me if you would like to be added to the email list!

Texaco Garage, at Goose Green.

Bring some change for coffee and cake etc.... Ideally, wear hi vis and a crash hat :-)

We meet for 9-30am and leave 5-mins later heading down Bellenden Road. If anyone lives near the Peck Library, we will be passing through there at c. 9-45am.

McCabe

Hi to all,

Pump up your tyre ready for tomorrow morning guys!

Meet for 9-30am with a 9-35am departure. Rendezvous at the Peckham Library for c.9-45am to collect anyone else.

McCabe

What a super ride!

Gosh! Anyone working in the city and paying 'silly billy' fares to work each day need a 'retrospective checking'.

Jump on bike, head back streets to Peckham library, follow the old 'Surrey Canal' for a mile or so, take a few back and quite roads - you are now 500m from Tower or London Bridge!

Next ride is to Hyde Park, around the main perimeter, then settle at the caf? opp the Iranian Embassy for coffee and cake.

McCabe

Thanks for the cycle yesterday. I cycled to work today and got there without a problem but got very lost on the way home and completely over shot the canal path! Obviously didn't concentrate very well on our way back yesterday! Be great if Dan could upload the route we did because I can't work it out. Can anyone recommend good cycle route app? Google map app doesn't have the cycle option like it does on the internet.

Thanks McCabe, looking forward to the next one

I'm not so inundated with work and stress now, so I might try and get out on Sunday. I liked the bike rides I went on last year and feel like I should really pull my finger out now the weather has improved.

You bet Hyde Park is on!

The Weather suggests that its going to be warm and sunny in the morning and clouding over in the afternoon.

Will meet for the usual 9-25am at the Texaco Garage by Goose Green and head off on the dot for 9-35am.

Bellenden Road, take a left up to Camberwell, Oval, Vauxhal (dismount and cycle path to Vauxhall Bri), then back on the road and up to Victoria, Hyde Park. We will then take an anti clockwise ride in the park to Speakers Corner, and then along to and over the Serpentine. Our finally destination is the caf? opp the Iranian Embassy.

**New Ones**

This is totally FREE and at an easy going pace. No jumping redlights, cycling on pavements and advisable to wear a high vis top and helmet. Bring some change for tea and cake!

Best!

McCabe.

I'm really gutted that I can't come now, as my mum is visiting for the day!! I was really looking forward to it too.

Will you do this route again at some point McCabe?

I'm definitely up for the next one :)

Just updated the next ride to search out the London 'Blue Plaques'.

Rather than trying to do zillions at one time, we can sector it to parts of London as the rides continue into Autumn. The following ride will be to Southwark Park and the next to the Cutty Sark in Greenwich.

Today was a great ride with the weather and sun just about on our side. As always, I took the team past my favourite restuarant in Chelsea enroute back called 'Buona Sera at the Jam', 289 Kings Road.

And, we were back indoors for noon!

    • I just googled, and apparently there's another branch of the Soho Street Govinda's  in Theobald's Road. I had no idea.
    • yes that's the one!  it was (nearly) harmless fun to get the un-initiated to put the coin in for you i also seem to remember that the Hanway Street place was called Govinda's.  it was vegetarian, vegan even - but it was much more palatable fare than the standard Hare Krishna stuff.  I also used to go tot he Indian Y - which I remmber discussing on the EDF some eyars ago.  And then the first Wagamama opened off Russell Street
    • Sometime in the mid 80s, the first incarnation was on Peckham Rye near the new old Tesco’s
    • Off topic (ish) but does anyone else remember when Blue Mountain opened? They had chocolate coated coffee beans and a range of coffee beans sold loose, and I can't remember whether it was freshly baked  bread or rolls or croissants or  something else, but my then partner used to go and buy it/them in the morning. And behind the part with the counter, it was divided into several little rooms, all different colours and styles. There was another room upstairs, though I can't remember if that was open from the beginning  It was great. It went through many incarnations after that, before eventually sadly closing, but I liked the first one best. Also off topic (ish) there was a Greek? Turkish? deli opposite. My then partner bought some yoghurt there once, and when he got it home he found it was months (I think) past its sell by date. He took it back. The guy in the shop opened it up, looked at it, sniffed it and said "There's nothing wrong with that." 😂
