Strong recommendation for Guy and his team at Greenfields.

We had some fencing replaced in our garden in Sydenham recently as well as some paving laid.

Guy was very good and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

He also does lawn replacements and decking (both of which we're planning to get him to do in the coming weeks).

His number is 07914441472.

STRONG WARNING regarding Greenfields

Further to my recommendation above I requested further work (decking and fence painting) to be done by Guy at Greenfields.

We agreed a price and I paid Guy for the materials in advance.

Guy arranged to come and do the work on one occasion and then did not turn up.

He then re-arranged, turned up and then left virtually immediately without doing any work with no explanation.

I then decided not to continue due to his lack of reliability and requested my money back to which Guy agreed.

He has promised several times to make the payment (even to tell me that the money is in my account) and despite repeated and now daily calls (to which he has not responded) I am still waiting after nearly 2 weeks.

I am all for giving people second chances which I why I hesitated and gave Guy appropriate time to respond and pay, but Guy has repeatedly not turned up when he said he would and now is keeping money that he said he will pay back.

Do not trust this person, or this company (Greenfields).

I honestly don't understand why the Administrator hasn't added Guy to the con artists list. One of the moderators themselves have pointed out he/his household have self-recommended. One forum member had to threaten him with legal action and there have been other reports about him overcharging for materials, doing poor work and not turning up to complete the work. Weirdly, most of the posts with negative feedback about him have disappeared, but I've bumped one that I could find.

Guy posts as Greenfields, SEFencing and the MarketGuy.

    • There's not enough people talking about this - I've often worried about it too  One busy staff's mistakes will not make my pockets lighter, thank you very much. Thanks Sue and all the best for the new year.
    • I don't want to name a shop, but I have twice at this busy time of year had an issue, and yesterday was overcharged when buying a number of small things. If you are using a shop which doesn't give an itemised receipt, or doesn't give a receipt at all, just be aware that it might be a good idea to check that you are not paying over the odds (and if using cash, that you are given the right change for what you handed over). When staff are busy they might make mistakes.
    • As I had a moan on here about the truly abysmal Christmas meal we had at The Cherry Tree last year, I am redressing the balance by saying we had a really excellent Christmas meal at Franklins last night. Every course was absolutely delicious and  really well cooked. The staff were lovely despite being exhausted and run off their feet. In particular, my sea bass was a large portion and cooked to perfection, in stark contrast to the small dried up portion The Cherry Tree provided, from which I was barely able to scrape a teaspoonful of flesh (that is not an exaggeration). And our Franklins meal cost less than half what we paid at The Cherry Tree (to be fair, that was on Christmas Day so the Cherry Tree costs would have been higher, but that doesn't excuse the appalling quality meal). Thank you again to Franklins for restoring our faith in eating out at Christmas!
