Their sandwiches are OK-ish (certainly better than M&S/Sainsburys). The coffee and pastries are not great though. Overall seems like bad news for nearby places like Blackbird, Poached, Long Black, etc.

Yep... the previous two properties I've owned both suffered from movement due to tree roots. It's a real problem.

My thoughts... - You should insist that the roof can take enough weight to walk on, and not be fully glazed, to ensure access for maintenance. - If your contractual obligations are that you share all roof repairs 50/50, you might want to try to renegotiate this - This work will DEFINITELY cause movement of the back half of the building. You will probably need repairs, redecoration, doors re-hung, etc over the back portion of your flat. This should be agreed up front. Take lots of photos before the work starts. Bic/Cat I think the changing rooms issue is a tricky one (for both parties) but toilets... I don't get the problem. Ladies loos have cubicles. They are already private. Nobody else is going to see your genitals or vice versa. It's a complete non-issue.

I am not sure how old the OP is, but we have shopping delivery services now. Supermarkets of various sizes, open at convenient hours. We do also have local greengrocers, butchers, fishmongers if you want the superior/specialist selection they offer. But it's really hard to see where fruit and veg markets fit in, in the face of this competition. Many families have two parents working full time... online shopping or supermarkets open at hours to suit their lifestyles are the norm. If you do really want fruit and veg stalls then take a stroll down Rye Lane. There are several, and they are quite cheap, but everything seems to be almost at the end of its shelf life.

If there is drain/sewage near the front of the house it might be possible. Box in the soil stack in the corner of your front room, then excavate to connect to the drain. But I think it's fairly unlikely in a terraced house, where the sewers are all at the back. Otherwise... running a full size soil pipe internally along the length of the house is pretty much impossible. Even if your joists run in the correct direction, you won't get enough of a downward trajectory to run it between the floor and ceiling. Boxing it on the ground floor will look awful, and again probably impossible if you have chimneys. So... reconsider the macerator perhaps. Or find another location for the new bathroom. Or just put in a shower without a loo, then you can use a flex hose for the waste.

I think it's unfair to say that the council neglect Rye Lane. There are street sweepers and litter pickers down there every evening, trying their best to keep it tidy. There are also regularly maintenance staff cleaning/painting graffiti especially around the station and other areas under their remit. If businesses would stop sweeping their floors out onto the street and take a bit more care of their waste, it would make a big difference. How can you stop graffiti and other vandalism? It is not easy. A fruit and veg seller on a low margin who works 12 hours a day is hardly going to spend his evenings scraping off graffiti and painting his shutters.

In some ways it was better in the previous location, as that's an under-used section of the park anyway. Also the gentle slope gives a good view of the stage. But that area will be undergoing flood prevention works this year. I have not heard of any of the acts at all (apart from A Guy Called Gerald, who I think rings a bell from the 80s), and I certainly won't be going, but it's a moot point really. You can't please everyone. I think overall we're lucky to live in a city that has culture, a music scene, etc. Maybe a couple of days of noise can reasonably considered as the price we pay for living in a vibrant city.

Sorry to hear that. It is not how anyone wants to spend their xmas day, but glad you are home and feeling a bit better. Every time I've had any sort of spell in hospital, I've ended up completely "bunged up" in that region. Anesthesia and painkillers can cause it.. in fact codeine is renowned for it (and not even that effective unless combined with other painkillers), so seems like an odd choice. Less fluids and physical movement probably play a part too.

We all were. Felt quite ill for a few days (not terrible though). T&T not really relevant for me because I hadn't been out the house except to test, so no experience of that. PCR test centres all very well ran, and all seem very quiet. So - as malumbu pointed out - it is very odd that tests close to home (or a choice of centres) not really available. As I very obviously had symptoms I waited out the full 10 day period and then some, before venturing out of the house. Oh, and if you don't get vaccinated (without valid medical reason) then you're a moron.

It's been cool to watch it grow organically from a few improvised obstacles into a park with proper concrete ramps, etc. I think inevitably Dulwich Estate will cash in on the land eventually, but it makes perfect sense that you guys should make constructive use of it for as long as possible.

Essentially they solve a lot of problems - quick, environmentally friendly, socially distanced transportation. But they do need infrastructure... they are unsuitable for pavements or roads. Cycle lanes in London are much improved, but the coverage is still not great.

I don't understand the whole female Bond proposition. By all means make a movie or several movies about a female secret agent. Give her the codename 007 if you like, give her colleagues called Q/M/Moneypenny. It doesn't bother me. But it isn't "James Bond" is it? It's not the same character... it's a spin-off.
