Hi

My twin girls turn 7 in Dec and I am looking for some interesting ideas. Doesn't necessarily have to be indoors but I guess it needs to be cold weather appropriate.

We did a colour spin and t-shirt printing party at Capture on the Rye last year which was a huge hit. They have also done the bouncy castle thing (which i think they have grown out of now anyway), drama party and swimming parties etc so trying to think of something a bit different.

Thanks in advance

Hi Fergju, glad to hear your twins enjoyed the screen-printing party last year. Captured on the Rye is also hosting Bath Bomb making workshops to add to our repertoire of parties for children in the East Dulwich area. Here's a video of a recent party, do get in touch if you'd like more information.

Of all the parties I organised for my daughter when she was at primary school, and of all the ones she attended, by far the most popular, and the ones which were remembered, were the parties at home with traditional games like pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey, and treasure hunts, most of which could be held outside if the weather is OK. There seemed to be an endless round of pirate gym parties, soft play, bouncy castles, swimming, pottery painting, and other events, with parents all trying to outdo each other with how much they had spent and how elaborate and grown up the party was, but in my experience without fail, the parties which were most talked about on Monday were the ones at home with lots of games. While they're still young, I really don't think children care at all about having parties in expensive venues. So long as there are games to keep them occupied, their closest friends are there, and they have their favourite food with an exciting cake, I think they are happy.

    • I always like Redemptions coffee though I've not visted for awhile..Romeo Jones was always my 1st choice for takeout Coffee Redemption 2nd. What IS with all these independent Yoga and Pilates Studios? Theres one on London Rd in Forest Hill (Mind) thats recently opened and then theres the Pilates place thats opened on North X Road. I looked at the prices of the one on NorthX road and was frankly shocked at how expensive it is, The FH one is slightly less.  Made me decide to stick with classes in The local authority gym
    • Dulwich Village update: The old DVillage location is (again?) under offer. The storefront next to the new grocer is going to open as a yoga and pilates studio...the name of which I've forgotten. 🤦‍♂️  Megan's is starting to push its takeaway coffee and cannibalise some of Redemption Coffee's market share. Is Megan's struggling? It's quite a big restaurant they have and rent cant be cheap. The reinventing of the Megan's branch on Lordship Lane as Ollie's seems to have stalled. And Redemption is looking a bit tired these days...
    • You're being a bit of a dick. The whole point of a forum is to discuss what is going on in the locality and this seems as reasonable a question as anything.
    • Wondering if anyone has used this delivery service and if so, how was it?  Have read mixed reviews.
