Tarot
If all the fruit that was left to throw away at the end of a shopping day was collected along with all the cakes the bakers throw away, were collected together and they could all be turned into loads of trifles for hospitals, schools andother places.Unwanted vegatables could be turned into stews the list is endless Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20348-war-on-waste/ Share on other sites

Is that a meat eater in the UK, or globally? And are you taking on the persona of the average Vegan (UK/Global?), or your actual personal intake?I've looked on the back of all those packets of dried food(?)stuffs in SMBS and there are some scarily distant (air/sea miles) countries of origin. Thomas Micklewright
Ha peter, the air miles are insignificant when you consider how energy heavy the majority of meat is, 80% of all soya beans grown on the earth go to feed animals, 90% of this energy is wasted when they live about etc. Then add the last wasted to grow the food, and the massive amount of water. No wonder the chair if the EU committee in climate change is encouraging people to do a meat free day!Tom Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20348-war-on-waste/#findComment-497319 Share on other sites
Huguenot
I think peter was merely trying to suggest that those without sin should cast the first stone. If you're eating kiwifruit in November you don't fall into that category, especially if you're communicating it in the bulletin board equivalent of a high pitched nasal ventilation. How many sheets of bog roll do you use when you go to the loo? I have a colleague that's sufficiently scared of his own poo that he uses so much paper you couldn't shoot a bullet through it. He also fills the bowl with paper first to avoid splashback. He attempts to justify this clearly ridiculous behaviour, much as you do, by being self-righteous. Captain Scarlet
I think it is a really good idea.we should be looking at ourselfs on how we waste food.I do not understand why some of the forum members are so negative towards Tarot. It seems to be a very sad trend on this board I have noticed.well done Tarot and shame on the rest!. Huguenot
Only Tarot could conclude that the world will be saved by trifle.Just don't let him/her get on the subject of immigrants, that's when the nasty streak comes out...
