It's been one of those weeks.

I've had to be in each day for one or other service or delivery. Quite tedious but in a way perversely enjoyable.

Monday = Business parcels 1/10

Tuesday = Business parcels 1/10

Wednesday a.m = Custom made rubber stamp 8/10

Wednesday p.m = Oh joy of joy, my new vacuum cleaner arrived. 1:))/10

Now, you'd think a vacuum cleaner is just a vacuum cleaner, but no. Since my Henry passed away with asthma motoritus i've not rushed into purchasing a replacement. "I'm doing some research" I said to the one who can't/won't be told.

Well, i've tried a Dyson - Looks & acts like a dalek.

I've tried a Kirby - great if you live in a stately home

I've tried a panasonic-meh

But finally I settled on a Meile S5211.

Oh what a marvel, it's light, powerful & engineered like a Mercedes.

I'm blown-sucked away by its utter fabulousness.

Anyway, enough excitement ( you should see my stairs/hall/landing now )

Tomorrow: I look forward to the arrival of my i-phone 4S.

The anticipation is killing me ( and now no doubt you).

Fine observation *Bob*

True, you can get your parquet brush for ?24.95. Included with the 5281. But then you've got your turbobrush - ?39.99. Included with the 5281.

One can only hope that the bog-standard, regular brush which you got with your 5211 doesn't end-up being a disappointment.

Had to laugh at this, I mean my Bosch washing machine comes with a FREE miele vacuum cleaner (with all possible attachment variants). Did you actually have to buy yours separately?

Harumph

NO IT hasn't turned up despite calling Orange today.

It went like this.

"Hello I'm expecting a phone to be delivered today"

"I can't give you times as to when it will be delivered"

"Ok-ay when was it dispatched then"

"I can't give you times as to when it was dispatched"

"Ok-ay what was the time of the last number called"

"I can't give you times as to when it was last called"

"Why not"

"Because your number's barred"

"Ok-ay how do I un-bar it"

"You ask me to un-bar it"

"Ok-ay un-bar it"

"Ok-ay now, what was the time of the last number called"

"at 4:00 pm Friday"

"Ok-ay that's what I thought"

" Is there anything else I can help you with today"

"No you've been quite helpful enough already , thank-you "

[quote name=Quiet running and powerful performance make the Miele S5211 Power Plus an integral part of cleaning your home.

A variable setting on this vacuum cleaner allows you to use it to clean all surfaces. Thanks to a quiet motor and special insulation' date=' there is a Silent setting on the S5211, making cleaning even less unobtrusive.

It has a flexible connection to get to those more hard-to-reach areas, while swivel action and soft bristles make this brush perfect for dusting books and shelves. Other built-in accessories include a universal brush, crevice tool ( nudge nudge, wink wink), upholstery brush ( know what I mean ) and extension tube.( yeah, we like an extension tube)]

I rest my case.

    • Thanks all!  KateS - boulangerie Jade is a nice cafe, but they don't do fresh cream cakes. Their eclairs are filled with patisserie cream (a kind of custard), not fresh cream. Azalea- thanks and I've been to Bunhead Bakery (a Palestinian bakery) in Herne Hill a few times. There's a nice chocolate bun they do, which is amazing when then sauce is warmed up. But I haven't seen any fresh cream things there, only white icing. Maybe it's only on a certain day.  And the last time I checked, Ayres bakers in Nunhead don't do fresh cream things. These are the kind of fresh baked goods I'm thinking of....
    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
    • the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this
